I don't think there is really any difference between 9volt and even running at 18 volt. How old is yours? Mozztronics says the new versions have been modified so there is just as much headroom at 9 volt as 18 volt.
It does sound really good. Output might not be as strong as others but when you have this in front of it, gain isn't a problem.

Initial feeling is good. I need to use it live first before I cast judgement. It will take a lot to boost the SLO off my board. Also have a review of the Mozztronics compressor coming.
I've been eyeing this, looks like it's got some serious shaping capabilities. Wonder how the color is.

I like the Le Bass, but don't use it much, but instead either go straight into my dual passive DIs with a Dyna Comp, or on occasions I use my MXR Bass DI+.
When practicing I always use the MXR Dyna Comp to take the Resounding Boom out of the bass.
I also like using my Beta Bass. My wife says the Beta Bass is Very Strong sounding.
Right now I am NOT too happy with the B7K Ultra. The toggle switch for the Distortion quit working on me, I can only turn the Distortion ON and OFF intermittently, and I am mulling it over in my mind on how to get it fixed.
However for the 2 years I used the B7K Ultra it was a decent Preamp/DI.

I just received a Minnow about a week ago, and in my limited experience (home only) I would say it is very clean and does not color the signal / tone. I've only ran it thru a mixer and studio headphones, and haven't had a chance to play out with it yet. I stuck it between an Effectrode LA-1A compressor and a Neve RNDI to the mixer. There is a gain control but I favor clean tone and haven't played much with the gain control.

Mine is 3 months old . I've found the lack of output an issue .
I recieved my Mozztronics BP-2 as well. I was iffy on very first run through, but quickly learnt to love it. It adds depth and attack and doesn't get muddy. Plenty of output without ultra low engaged, but i like the ultra low as it really adds that ampeg vibe. I still find its enough though. Andrew from Mozztronics said he is going to see if he can find a way to fit a DI out over Christmas. The BP-2 going through the power tube and cab sim on the Two notes is really nice.

How do you like your Torpedo Cab? Even though I swore off cab sims like a week ago, I'm considering trying one for Black Friday.
+1 but from what I'm reading I get the impression that they address different demographics - a somewhat similar and cheaper alternative to a SLO?
I had one and it's amazing! So amazing that you can tweak and futz with it until you go totally crazy. Lol!

Well, that can be a problem. I don't really like things I need to tweak and futz with forever. Nobody's got time for that. Does it sound good out of the box? Can you tweak it all from an app, or does it have to be done on a computer?
Okay the Good News is, there is a lot of Good Gear out there from which to choose from, but also the Bad News is, there is a lot of Good Gear out there from which to choose from, and the goal is to Lose your mind, trying to choose just one piece of Good Gear out of all the Good Gear is a Good Place to start.
Guranteed you will Lose your mind.
Anyway, as you shall see, I have already Lost my mind, I happen to own Several Pieces of Good Gear, and I will share this with you - for those who are curious.
The B7K Ultra is very Clear, so if you use High Impedance Pickups, you will need a Filter, because you can hear a hair dropped onto the strings when using the B7K with High Impedance PUps.
However the B7K has a nice EQ and is a really good decent Preamp/DI.
The Le Bass is also Really Good, side A will give you a Warm sound, you can dial in a very strong driving bass, but side A tends to lose a sense of the high end, which when playing a six string is undesirable. Side B is the more Modern Sound, does allow for dialing in better High End, but doesn't produce the Hard Driving Bass that side A does.
However in Cold Fusion mode you get the best of both worlds, and if you are looking for some Serious OD, Hot Fusion mode will produces some Hard Driving Over Drive.
My wife likes side A best.
I like Cold Fusion best.
The MXR Bass DI+ is a Good Preamp/DI, and if you are looking for a Good Basic unit, you won't be doing too badly with the MXR Bass DI+.
I tend to use the MXR the most when practicing.
The Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI V1 is the Famous BDDI, it hasa very distinct character to it, and I use this when I am in the mood for this character.
Eventually I will try the BDDI V2.
The Beta Bass tends to sound a little Darker than the rest, but this is a very capable and strong Monster of a Preamp/DI, and has a fairly flexible EQ section.
When I practice, since I BiAmp using a Sub and Midfield, I tend to go straight into my two Inexpensive Double Shielded Passive DIs, and for cheap Chinese made DIs, the two do very well. In a sense they have become a standard for me. Believe it or NOT, I like these two cheap Chinese DIs.
I also tend to run my basses through an MXR Dyna Comp, which functions like a Leveling Amplifier, and I use this to tone down the Resonating Bass while practicing.
I have tried Radials, both Active and Passive, and they Sound Good also.
On the Horizon, I am looking to try the Neve RNDI and the Tech 21 Q/Strip. I am also interested in the Geddy Lee Rackmount and Doug Pinnick Preamp/DI. What I am looking to do with the Geddy Lee Rackmount is to run the Pinnick as an EFX through the Lee thereby developing more Sonic Capabilities. I have always liked both bass players, albeit both are different, and I like the Sonic Capabilities offered in their gear. So with the two I get to have my cake while eating it at the sametime.
Then again, I have already Lost my mind, I am Into The Gear, and I fully admit it, and I am having Fun with it.
Now if you like, we can get into the DI Outs from my Ampeg SVP tube Preamp, from the Mesa Walkabout, and both of my GK amps.
The Ampeg sounds good, very clear, while the RBII puts out a strong signal Post EQ, and my Walkabout has a lot of nice EQ to it. All are Good in their own ways.
Maybe down the road I will try an Avalon U5 and a RED DI, but the 737 sounds incredible, and to my mind, Nothing Sounds Better than an Avalon 737.

Well, this was my board this morning and I don't really have any complaints. In fact, the Bass preamp was nice and punchy with plenty of gain available (guys on the board had a pad on my input just like they DI when I run the SLO), and the EQ flexibility is nice. This is especially true of the mid control with 5 position switch.
I didn't use Ultra Lo and Hi switches though if you like the Ampeg tone you'd probably like them.
I kept the EQ flat on my Roscoe. On the Mozztronics preamp I had Volume at 3:00 and Gain at about 10:00. Bass at 3:00, Mid at 1:00, Mid position dial in top (noon) position, and treble at 2:00.
When combined with the Mozztronics compressor it is total punch.
I don't tend to like Fuzz but the Bass Fuzz pedal is really cool with the dry and wet blend and phase switch. Adding almost all dry signal but a hint of wet and phase switch down made for this nice very subtle growl. Perfect for choruses or when I wanted to pop out of the mix a little more. Everything sounded fat but tight and punchy and full.

There must be something wrong with my Mozz preamp. I have to have the gain and volume almost maxed to reach unity. This is my second one .the first one didn't work at all . Hmmmm. Maybe I should send this one back. I really like it .But feel like I need to push it too hard
