I'm a ways away from getting this into a beta-testable form but I'd be lying if I said this hadn't occurred to me. :D

I think I'm settled on the preamp circuit topology, just implemented the variable LPF in my box of random wires and components last night and it does a nice job of taking the edge off of the overdriven tones. I still have some power supply design to manage (need to be careful boosting 12V to over 300 because noise). What I will do in the short term is try to get some clips recorded and post them. I'm thinking about starting a thread for that so that it doesn't run the risk of cluttering this one up too much.

I've got one of these on the way to try out. I've been wanting to find a used one for years and finally found someone that had one 4 months old. Anxious to see how these do.

At this point I think I've added some pretty firm requirements that whatever preamp I run must be reasonably small (no bigger than..say...a Noble), be DC powered, and not be heavy.

My needs are for live sound direct to the board and in-ear monitors. If I were a studio cat, then yeah...I'd go with a Noble, Shaw, P15, REDDI, etc. Wouldn't need the EQ so much as the engineer could EQ it in the DAW.

Well, the F2p is gone and I miss it already. Still have the Marleaux Tonwerk and Trinity Meridian for sale though I think I'm going to keep one of the two. The grass is not always greener on the other side and these two are killer.

The F2p would have been the one I probably would have liked. I'm wishing there were a bypass on the Oracle, but I guess you can't have everything? I suppose I could run a blend pedal to handle that, but always trying to minimize.

Not really any input specs here unfortunately.

There's a youtube clip with a passive jazz bass that sounds tremendous though. I prefer and use passive basses so shouldn't be any issues there.

For me this will sit between an Effectrode LA-1A and a RNDI (to FOH).

that's a interesting looking tube preamp. I wonder why they done build them with XLR out instead of the 1/4?

From the Arkham Zephyr www page - "Balanced DI output, featuring an excellent Cinemag transformer for full frequency response. Ground lift switch for good measure."

I expect the transformer was probably too big to fit into a pedal, which is ok, as I like the RNDI, with its transformer.
