The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

I like the Blackbird clean channel a lot. The dirty channel has too much gain in the form of distortion.

The Oracle and SLO are my favorite Tube Preamps to date. The Oracle has the edge of you can deal with the size.

The SLO can have more breakup though if you want it.

The Simplifier is not meant to be a preamp so much.

Thank you, I guess I will continue to keep my eyes open for an Arkham - sounds like it will fit the bill perfectly compared to the others I am considering.

Atomic Amps Bass Box....just started shipping a couple days ago. Currently $299.99 US + shipping. I've got one on the way.

Will be watching for your thoughts. That one hit my radar when they announced it, but I was wondering if it would be anything more than vaporware. Not really what I'm currently looking for, but seems like quite the swiss army knife preamp.

5sg.

Yeah. I started a thread on this a year ago when it was announced a winter NAMM 2019, and things went silent up until last week. All-of-a-sudden...BOOM....it's here. Will provide a review when it's delivered and as time allows (no COVID-19 work break for me), and of course, allowing for settling in post-honeymoon phase. ;)

An all-in-one preamp pedal in this size format has been on my back-burner want/need list for a long time, and Atomic Amps has a solid reputation in the modeling world, not to mention the Studio Devil bass amp model plug-in. It's a difficult balance to strike, between having too few features (requiring augmentation) and too many (crammed into a bigger box), and justifiably priced. I think the Bass Box gets most of this right, whereas other pedals in this size format haven't been a great fit for my personal wants/needs.
