My wife is pretty good about the cost of this hobby, she knows I love doing it. We have an informal rule that anything under $200 falls under the heading of "your business", anything over $200 is "our business". I can't see dropping $200 on a bridge, used is fine by me, just more of a waiting game...
My wife has a different take. She'd really like me to just pick a single hobby.

Got a brand new Schaller on fleabay for $80, so thats that. I do like the look of the Hipshots, bit a little pricey right now. Now I can set the fingerboard height above body, time to start making a neck lam!
Got some nice figured maple in the rough, 96" x 6-1/2" x 2-1/4". I haven't dressed rough lumber in a while, had to dust off the jointer and lunchbox planer. This is half the whole board.
It cleaned up nice to 6" wide x 2' thick, hoping to get 4 necks out of the whole 8' board eventually.
I have single 1/8" x 2" x 48" long flitch of purpleheart left over from the HF III, thought I might make that the center lam... or not. Crude color comparison below. If I go with walnut and purpleheart, they'd all be 1/8" lams, if just two walnut stringers, maybe 3/16" or 1/4". (yes, that's my blood on there never even felt the cut due to "work anesthesia)

I have some misc. scraps, but nothing big enough to do the whole headstock. I'm trying to keep this in the same aestheic ballpark as the original Lemmy, with a few divergences, so to speak. The carving is pretty decorative, maybe that's enough?
Oh, definitely enough. I lost track that you were doing that on this one.
I think both pics look good. I just thought it would look good to have another piece somewhere to compliment the middle stripe. Maybe little accent inlays in the carve somewhere? Is that pushing it?
Is the carve like a plant or flower relief? I forget (you probably already posted a pic)

I'd keep it simple with just walnut and maple.
I'm always in the "go big or go home" camp. I say add the purpleheart stripe!
I would probably vote the slightly more subtle maple/walnut only, but then Lemmy wasn't exactly subtle so I guess you need to decide what fits the brief best.
