Ibanez SRX505...I just got it. I didn't need it but I wanted a 5 string just to have one.

Ibby SRX505 and my Geddy

I have a Roland G88 synth controller, originaly produced by Ibenez. It is in average condition and I am trying to decide if I should sell it as is or fix it up and keep it. If anyone knows anything about this bass, including what they are worth ($AU). some help would be great thanks.

Well I'm in the club now as of picking up a SR900 yesterday. I have always liked nez basses, esp BTB's and 80's - early 90's soundgears. But I have never been a fan of the modern soundgears because of horror stories about factory quality control.. that is until I picked this baby up in a music store and had a go. Two words can sum up the experience after I dialed in some tone and started to play.. Holy.. and crap. The neck on the sr900 is amazing! It makes a fender j neck look fat, and because of the beautiful stained satin finish my hands run up and down the neck super fast, I don't think I have ever touched a bass quite as well set to my playing style.. and I have played a LOT of different basses in my time. And those barts are sooo nice, from mellow warmth to snappy highs and barking lows.. verrry niiice. Oh and did I mention that finish?.. Transperant satin black maple body with lots of grain showing through and an almost quilt like effect to the finish.. it's spectacular under lights as it shifts from black through to purple (esp with that sweet looking purple/grey bubinga neck through line running through the neck and body).. oh and I picked her up for $1595 NZ instead of the marked price of $2000 NZ.. frickin bargain! I had been looking at a warwick corvette $$ and a few other basses including a fender jazz (the fender had a nice neck but pretty lifeless sound, and the warwick had a great tone but a neck like a tree trunk, plus that ovankol gripped my thumb too much).... Annnyywayy I'm set now, I'll post some pics of her soon. This baby is a keeper :) Consider me one of the crew.

Hey guys, forgive my ignorance, but I am shopping for a new bass (owned a 4-string P-Bass for a number of years) and want to go with a 5-string that's very playable. My local store didn't have a lot of Ibanez, but the SR705 was my favorite of all I played. I really want an all-natural wood finish, though, not blue. Here are my ignorant questions:

General: What's the major differences in the various model types of Ibanez (i.e. SR, SRX, ATK, etc.)

Specific: The SR-505 looks like it has the same electronics as the SR-705, does it play pretty much the same? I like the playability of the 705 but like I said want the wood finish. Thanks a bunch!
