I think it looks better with the pickguard on.

Nice bass, by the way, funkybassplayer. ;)

I don't think I've ever seen one of those.

This is one of my Ibanez Basses. It is an Ibanez SR 1306. It has a Paduk body with neck which has Paduk and who knows what on the backside, and Wenge fingerboard. The neck is a 5-piece bolt on. You can see the construction/layers near the neck pickup and the end of the fingerboard. This was my first fretted bass, bought sometime in 1994. I don't know what year it is. The bass has active electronics, and the pickups are single coils, I believe. The thing sounds like a six-string Jazz bass, which is why I bought it.

Other variations on this SR 1306 theme have different bridge designs, different brand pickups (Bartolini) and different pickup designs (Soapbars?), but mine seems to be rather unique, and I can't find anyone else here on Talk Bass who has one exactly like mine. I'm sure my bass isn't "rare" but perhaps uncommon is the best term.

I would like to know of someone else who owns a bass exactly like this one. I would further be interested if someone who also owned this bass did anything to quiet the major hiss this bass has, and also if they were able to boost the signal coming from the bass? I suppose this is a topic for another portion of Talk Bass.

Anyways, see my 2nd bass, and 1st Ibanez: Great bass. Great tone. Too much hiss. Too little signal.

Love to have a club # if one's available. I should post a few pics of my 81 Musician Bass.

Hi guys,

I have been following this "Ibanez Club" since the first thread up until now and I think it's a real shame that we have so many Ibanez owners who are passionate about their basses, yet we don't have anyone to hand out numbers! I am an Ibby owner (RD300, my first bass) and I love it to death, and I will probably be purchasing a BTB or SR in the near future. :)

If you guys want, I am willing to create a new "Ibanez Club" thread, and take the roll as leader and hand out numbers to any proud Ibanez owner. :) It'd be best to have a new thread so we can start over, just to avoid confusion for new-comers. Let me know what you all think and if there is general agreement I will create the thread and post a link in this one. :)

Cheers,
Josh

I wanna join! Here's a story - one of my first basses was an Ibanez - I traded it a long time ago, and guess what I found leaning on the dumpster behind my building just a few months back...the same color and everything! ('cept for the stickers). Spooooky...:hiding:

Thinking about converting to fretless - I gotta talk to my tech and see what that would run me LOOK! ACTIVE EMG'S!
Maybe do a refinish too and get all the nasty stickers off :spit:

Thanks man. I know that these were built for a few years in the mid 90's. It had a 3-band EQ with an active passive switch but i took it out and wired it up passive VVT controls. I hope to drop some Nordstrand Big Singles into it if they will fit. All in all, it is a great bass, my original bass, and it will be with me for the long haul.

So nobody really wants numbers that much?
Okay, it was just a suggestion! :)

I have decided on the SR705 when I have enough money, my RD300 neck is styled after the SR series necks at the nut and it gets fatter and wider as it approaches the heel, I really with more Ibanez basses had this style neck but what can ya do. The SR should serve me well, I like the tight and thin feel of the lower (first) part of my RD300 neck. :)

Here is some SR p0rn!

Nice choice! My SR400QM (pg. 16) neck is only 1 7/16" wide with a 7/8" thickness at the 1st, and 19mm spacing at bridge. I love the SR5's too, but am more comfortable with the SR4 drop tuned. Oh, and I'm sure other people would like numbers - they just haven't read this thread recently - I'll take one if your going to do it. :D

I don't know if people just completely missed my suggestion, or don't care. :p
Either way I'm still happy to do it if there is some more support.

just Picked up another SR! it's an Sr485, I always wanted one when I was younger, so I finally found one that was cheap and grabbed it. here ya guys go, two new pics of the family:
