Picked up a BTB455QM last week. What a nice bass.
Nice to have a 5 string active to complement my Fender Jazz 4 passive.
I'll post pics once I take some... camera got loaned to neighbour and haven't got it back yet.

Oh dude I'll bet that's awesome!!
It was my first 5 string. It's had a bunch of different pickups along the way. The original Ibanez "Regulated Lo-Z" pickups sounded great, but they were noisy. Then I had EMG-J's in it, and now my own pickups. I've temporarily removed the preamp to test the pickups out passive, but I'll be putting it back in.
It needs a new bridge. This one lost a lot of it's finish over the years.

Cool, man! I absolutely love Roadstars and the early Soundgears, so one day I hope to give one of those a try 
I love old ibanez's, there were so many quirky models like the early BTBs with slanted J pickups, I need to start poking around for some of these.
I know, dude! There's a Roadstar RB690IV that's been hanging around a local music shop for years...I want to snag it (or one of the many other Roadstars that come in there) one of these days. I already own a RB deluxe from '84 and Ibanez's first 5 string, the RB885...but they just leave you wanting MORE! Kinda like Mesa amps...
Hello all, Wondering if any one has had a similar experience....I just purchased a new Ibanez SRX 650 from an online catalog company, supposedly at a close-out price....$299. Ok UPS comes in a couple 3 days...I open the box and the guitar is ok except for the quality of this instrument is terrible... the frets were all like razors on the ends...the finish on the body looked as though it had swirls and crazy looking letter like YY MM in the wood (natural clear coat). I have 3 other Ibanez's which I consider excellent. I had to send it back today for a refund. Is Ibanez slipping on quality control or could this be a counterfeit made in China?

I wouldn't know, man. The frets on my Roadstar Deluxe are a little rough on the top side (when I strum vigorously on the neck, sometimes I scrape my fingers on them...but that takes a lot of effort
), but that sounds awful! I'd say get another one--probably a fluke, man. Still sucks bad :scowl:

What year was your SR800 fretless made? Very sweet!
They were made between 1990 and 1992. I love the Ibanez catalog archive!!

my serial number starts F9 meaning it was built in 1989, but i think it's a 90 model because the headstock sticker says SR800 and not SR800LE.
check it out chowderboots, the 89 catalog is not on ibanez's site

Wacky, Hypercarrots. Thanks for pointing that out! I figured there were some holes in there, but it's still a pretty great resource and the bulk of things is all in one place. I guess '89 was the first year that the RB700 was morphed into the RD. Cool!
It's the same way with my '84 RB760 that I keep talking about (and love to death). It appears in the '85 catalog, but the serial number is F844291, meaning that it was made in August of '84 (if I am right about how their serial numbers were pre-'90).

On that bass, I'm planning to change the pickups out with dual DiMarzio Ps (maybe a Will Power in the bridge?) and wire it in stereo (because I think that's spiffy). The cool thing is that although the pickup housings are abnormally sized, I think I might be able to stuff DiMarzio Ps in the same housings, giving it the same look without any routing. One day, I might put a Kahler trem on it as well, although I really dig the Accu Cast BII

I always would like another Roadstar...getting that changed my playing. One of those moments where you think: "Woah! I can actually play this thing!" Just wish the pickups weren't so lifeless

How do those date codes work? Mine starts with F7. Mine is a SR885LE, but there's no sticker with the model on it. I've never even seen it in the catalogs from back then, only the SR05.
