Those aren't non-original tuners. Check the '86 catalog if you don't believe me.

Seriously; this stuff is out there for anybody to see. There's no reason to not check it out, especially if you're going to make statements about the originality of a 20+ year old instrument.

The 1305 was more midrangy, and didn't have as much bottom as the 1205?

Now I won't miss getting one, as the main thing I like about my 1205 is the warmth and Pre-CBS-type tones I can get from it. And, by the way, the 1305s are all sold out at Musiciansfriend.

Sorry friend, my bad. I was speaking from my own experience with that model. Every version I've ever seen of that bass had those large, cool heart-shaped tuners. Having had that same Roadstar model in my hands on more than a couple of occasions, I wasn't aware they changed at some point in the model run. Those tuners are very nice though. They're the same ones that I had on my RB-999. Very well constructed, substantial and sturdy. Thanks for the correction. Those basswood P & P/J Ibanez basses of the 80's vintage had some serious booty.

Yes, I think you've hit on it, the warmth of the 1205. That's what drew me to it in the first place. It had an overall balance across the strings and up and down the frequencies that I found quite appealing, making it easy to play. Again, maybe it was just the 1305 that I ended up with, but it did not have that same warmth. I even changed the strings over to R Coccos because I thought it might be the Elixirs but that was not an improvement. It was the first bass I ever ordered without playing first and I really, really wanted to love that bass. I just never warmed up to it tonally. It was a disappointment, to me anyway.

If I found a nice BTB-1205, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up. Every single one I've come across has been a great instrument.

I'm gonna need a number too. :)

Just picked up my first bass. It's a 2008 SR500 with the mahogany finish. I got super lucky and scored a FREE stand, monster cable 10ft cord, gig bag, and GK Backline 110 combo amp. :D Needless to say I'm a bit more than happy right now. Now I just need to learn how to play this gorgeous bass. LOL! But I'm working on that.

I want to be a member of the Ibanez club. I just got my ATK 700 and it's quite nice. Well my photos didn't attach correctly. I guess I'll have to wait.

Yeah, it only shows up in the '92 catalog and price lists. The CTB5 (5 string w/EMG Selects - $700 list), CTB3 (4 string w/active pickups - $600 list) and CTB1 (4 string w/passive pickups - $450 list) all had light maple bodies and 3 piece maple necks w/rosewood boards. There are no neck dimensions that I can find, but the feel is described as 'traditional', so I guess that means it's thicker than a Soundgear.

I am seriously considering purchasing one of these. I have never really played Ibanez basses before. I do own 2 of their acoustic guitars though. I like the thin neck as I play a MIA Fender Jazz that I upgraded with Badass bridge and an Audere pre amp.

I like the 2007 20th Anniversary model with the oiled mahogany finish and the 5 piece neck. The custom Bart p/u don't hurt either. It looks awesome and I got GAS for it. I am wondering if anyone here can tell me about it. I see it came out in 2007 and only so many were made. I can get a great deal on a new one.

So, if anyone has played one, etc. Your opinion and comments are most welcome. Thank you!!

I've been playing 6 string guitars for 44 years. Praise band leader from church needed a bass player on our new campus and asked me if I wanted the challenge. I accepted and ordered an Ibanez GSRM20 from Guitar Center. It should be here this week. Any advice or comments for me?
