I don't know where the BTBs are made, but if they're no longer at Ibanez' website, I'd say that means that they're out of production. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

If this is the case, I'd suggest anyone interested in one buy one now before they're all gone. See my post #680.

I have a 1205E. The model MF is clearing out is the 1305E.

I guess this means there's not going to be a 1405E. :bawl:

It's a shame, but I guess they didn't sell well enough.

I'm afraid I must resign my membership for now.
Sold my nice soundgear cause I still coulnd't find work, chose it to sell because I'd left it stock, and it'll be pretty easy to find another when I do get some money again.
Blame George Bush for my resignation!

Hrmm. A shame indeed. I'm thinking of buying a BTB to replace my plays-okay-but-the-pickups-are-**** Peavey International (and to see if the whole 5 strings/35" thing would fit me) and am wondering what model I should get. From what I've heard they have a great sound, and the 775 looks fabulous (to tell the truth, the 776 looks even better, but 6 strings with my skill level (or lack thereof), I'd look like a complete dufus, and a pretentious one at that :p ), but if they're clearing out 1305s in the US, I'll have to look extra hard on European websites to see if I can get a similar deal.

What's the craftmanship like on the 2009 models (esp. the 775 and 675) anyway? Are the 2008 Prestige models that much better?

My BTB1305 was a beautifully-made instrument but I just couldn't warm up to it. I played quite a few 1205's and liked them, so I ordered the 1305. It sounded quite different. If there was ever a bass I wanted to love, the BTB was it, but we ended up parting company. I replaced with a Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 5 and I'm much happier with the vibe of that one. For some reason, I just never really connected with the 1305's.

I think the 1205's are great. I saw a NOS one in a shop last week but they wanted full pop $1,499 for it.

Here's my '83 Roadstar II shorty.

I originally bought it at a local shop in 1989 and then sold it a few years later. I regretted having gotten rid of it and tracked it down and bought it back about 2 years ago. The paint was chipped, the body had gouges in it, the electronics were shot, one tuner was broken. But there was almost no wear on the fretboard. :eyebrow:

Modifications:

-swapped the stock pickup for the EMG
-added the Gibson EB0 pickup
-purple pearl paint
-Carvin tuners

The1305 sounded different? In what way?

I played one in Sam Ash about a year ago, but didn't plug it in, but it felt very similar to my 1205.

I am tempted to order a 1305, but that would probably be dumb, having two of the (almost) same bass.

I bought mine 3 years ago, and I have never had a bass which I liked so consistently for so long. This bass is perfect in my eyes. Great tone, very versatile and plays like they measured my hands when designing the fingerboard. :cool:

If/when I get another bass, it'll probably be a Lakland or G&L.

Hey, was wondering if you ibanez guys could help me id this bass. Was wodnering if you guys also had any thoughts on it. Think $150 is a fair price for it?

To my ear, the 1305 has a more snappy, modern tone than the 1205. The 1305 really reminded me of my maple fretboard Cirrus. A great bass for fusion or progressive rock, but not for the more vintagey vibe I was looking for. It could be there was something wrong with the pickup wiring or something because I really thought the 1205 had more bottom-end and more low-mid booty and punch. The 1305 sounded just a bit thin and midrange heavy. Maybe it's because there is less body wood on the 1305 because of the deeper cutaways compared to the 1205, who can say.

The 1205/1305 neck dimensions are identical which would explain why the 1305 felt similar, but to these ears, they don't sound the same.

I ended up with another Lakland fiver. Except for the Laklands having more crown, the necks between the Skyline fives and the 1205/1305's are pretty similar in dimensions with the Ibanez being a bit flatter and shallower.

The non-original tuners would affect the price. Here in Canada I've seen nice versions of these demanding the $300 area. YMMV
