Is the Ibanez SR 500, better than a Spector legend classic 4 string? How is that?

I don't like either of those basses. My preference is the SR400. I can't stand the jatoba/bubinga necks on the newer Ibanez basses. You might like them though, I don't know what your tastes are.

My experiences with spectors haven't been good. I find them uncomfortable to play.

But I've read really favorable reviews for the SR 500. If not SR 500, how's the SR 600?
And do the pickups make a difference, because the SR 500's have bartolini's while the SR 400's have style sweepers.

Depends on what tone you're after. I don't personally like the barts but most people prefer them.

Difference between the 500 and 600 is the body wood. Neck woods are the same, pickups are the same. The 700 is just a 500 with a figured maple top.

If you don't wind up liking the jatoba/bubinga necks on the 500, 600 and 700 series, then you can try the 300, 400 or 370 series which all have maple necks.

However, if you do wind up liking that neck then the 500 is probably the best deal.

I was playing an SR600 and an SR500 today.

The 500 had a screwed up action, but seemed alright.
The 600 was near perfect.

I play reggae to rock to rock n' roll. I listen to a lot of metal but don't play it. Probably a reason why I like the shape and the feel. Comfort level is good on both though.

The 500 has a sloppy action, but I think it's a decent buy. Loved the 600.
I couldn't locate an SR 400 but my current choices. I want to play the 400 but due to its unavailability, I couldn't.
Would you suggest looking at the SRX or BTB series?

I would suggest you do. I think the SRX has a similar profile to the SR but the BTB is completely different, very wide but thin. You may like it, you may not, but it is worth a try.

Agreed. Always be willing to give things a try.

I like the SRX, nice and punchy with deep growling lows.

The BTB is a 35" scale, which may be a turn off for you.

Try em both, see what you like.

I own an SR300. It's my first bass. I have been looking at the SRT800DX lately and I'm leaning toward getting one or an SRX. I haven't seen anyone that owns an SRT800DX on here. Is there anyone who owns or has played one and would care to share their opinion about it?

Well I'll be!!...Was ok for what it was...Don't have that one anymore either...My wife's nephew was hanging around and expressed interest in learning the bass probably 8 years or so ago...So we bought him a decent amp and I gave him the Eclipse for Christmas...I wasn't playing it anymore, and it was just sitting in the closet...Figured I'd get it in the hands of somebody that would play it...He's learned very quickly and even bought an acoustic 6 string and taught himself how to play that...Very talented young man!!...

It's got high action and sometimes the peizos crackle, but I LOVE this bass. It's good for raising eyebrows, too, with that spacey look.

This is my grandson Zachary. He started playing bass about 18
months ago. He practiced with his first band today.
I haven't talked to him yet to see how it went.

I bought the Ibanez SR505BM and the Acoustic B200 in the pic for him.
He paid it back by helping me renovate my house.
