Your bass is a RS721TR. The tuners are original. I believe the original bridge was the Blazer series brass bridge:
Dano...thanks again for the knowledge on my Roadster. The first thing I need to do is replace the missing tone pot. I'm thinking I'll replace the volume while I'm at it.
Is there a resource you know of that I can check to see what the original RS271 pots were? I've been told that CTS 250k pots were common for that time, but were they both audio taper? Some recommend using audio with a .047 orange drop cap for the tone and linear taper for the volume.
I just want to be as close to stock as possible, and not spend too much money.
Thanks, Hawk! I'll prolly post photos after I finish fixing it up, but I can't decide whether or not to refinish the body. If it's really worth $300, I may be better off leaving it in it's "road worn" condition, in case I decide to move it later.
I'm looking for an all maple, neck thru 4 string with something I can put EMG's into (either P/J or 2 humbuckers will work too).
Any suggestions? From what I read, some of the SR500's may be all maple? With so many different combination over the years, any help or suggestions are appreciated!

If you can find an SR1000EFM bass, those are all maple neck-thrus.
Those are getting pretty scarce now though. I was lucky to find one and I'm making payments on it.
The SR370M however is relatively new so you should be able to order it from most places. It's all maple (including the fingerboard), but it's a bolt on and has bartolini shaped pickups (EXFs)
The SRT800DX is neck-thru and has EMG pickups, but it has a mahogony body.

All Czech made Spectors were all maple up until a few years ago.That's what I've played for 20 years until I realized Ibanez has a much better neck for me.
My current bass is an old Ibanez EX 405 loaded with 2 EMG P's. Fantastic bass! I'd like like that maple sizzle and overtone in an Ibanez.I'll check into the SR1000EFM. If anyone knows of one, PM me.
I didn't know that. Here, allow me to edit my previous statement: The only neck-thru, all maple bass I've ever cared about owning is the Rickenbacker.
All maple is too bright for my taste. I like a smooth, warm tone.
That being said, I can't wait to get my SR1000EFM, it has the most beautiful finish I've ever seen.

That last option doesn't sound like it would be good to me.
I'm spoiled now from the stacked V/T pots on my VM Jaguar, and I cannot see that pushing both p'ups through the same TONE pot.
With them both individually TONE adjustable I get both grunt and growl with a P-p'up in Super LOW and the J-p'up in Super HIGH at the same time and just bring in the VOL as necessary.
I think my SR500 would be mucho better if I could separately address each soapbar with independent TONE and VOL and not have to blend them with the PAN from Bridge to Neck.
As much as I love my SR, I really like the separate tune-ability of the VM Jag a little better with it's V/T-V/T stacked pots - but they are different instruments and both stand alone as great in my ears and eyes.
I hope I stated that in a clear-enough way, since I haven't had my medications yet this AM.
If you're going with two seperate tone controls I can see the purpose of two seperate volume controls.
But if you just have master tone I prefer a blend/balance/pan pot.
i think with single coils wired opposite (like a foundation) VVT works better ... maybe you don't get the total sonic range, but almost everything you do get is totally usable.

I feel that having tone and vol for each pickup as a bonus since you can have either p'up at a HIGH tone (brassy?) and the other are a low thump and just use the individual volumes to blend them.
If you run both through the same tone factoring device, then I don't see that as being a great thing - acceptable, but not great.
Again - that's just my take on it and part of the aura of the P/J sound situation on the Jag with individual V/T stacks for each p'up.
I had that V/V/T on a LP Special and is one reason why I think it had so little to offer in variety. It was a great sustain and ultimately fantastic tone machine with wide ability - but it happened on both p'ups at the same time and I didn't think to divide them from each other and got rid of that bass fast.
