Got an SR500, great bass for the buck, baby. Strung it with EB flats and set the action a little higher than the original setup. Love it. It looks killer, too 
hey 3k you got any sound clips of that SR? I'm curious as to how it sounds with flats.
Hey 5, sure do. This was recorded through analog in, EQ on rig as follows: Bass +~10%, Mid +~5%, Treb -~10%; Through a SS H&K Nearly Zero'd out on EQ and a little drive; DI to the Mac via Analog. Pretty compressed in MP3 but it should give you an idea.
I recently had to replace the chrome bridge on my 1996-7? ATK fretless and it only cost me $78 AU (~$65 US at the time). I dont think the factory Ibanez hardware is particularly more expensive than after-market gear I think a lot depends upon the authorised dealer that youre dealing with.

Wow man that sounds really good. Nice to see it still has some residual growl to it.
How did you go about ordering the bridge?
I found an authorised Ibanez repair shop and they got the part for me...it took a bit of emailing around before I found someone who'd answer my emails...
Once I did find someone, I had the bridge in my hands in less than 1 week
check the ibanez website for authorised repair shops.
I got one quick question before i join the ibby club, what is the difference between the SR500 and the SR700?, is it just the maple or the finish or what?

The finish. The 500 has a really thin, easily marred finish while the 700 has the poly finish. Same electronics, same everything else.
Not just the finish - the SR500 is an all mahogany body, the SR700 is mahogany with a figured maple top.
You're right about the finish though - every used SR500 i've seen has "bald spots" on the body near the top of the pickups. Still, the SR500 is an awesome deal for the price
and I love the brown look. Should be ok if you don't anchor your thumb on the body and if you don't drag it across the stage

Seems like it would be a worthwhile idea to spray a few coats of satin poly on these bodies to ward of all the wear.
I picked this one up this week. SR600.
I love the way the bass looks, but I'm not quite sure about the neck. There seem to be quite a few dullish sounding places on the D and G string. I replaced the stock strings with some DR's, so I know that's not it.

I dont know if this is the right place to ask, but since you all have ibanez basses maybe its the better place to ask.
I always loved the way ibanez basses looked but never really had to chance to have a go at a good one, I had the GSR jumpstart one and while I learnt I was pretty satisfied with it. now I would like to know if these basses can fit well in any style, I no they are more of rock basses and thats the music I mainly play, but I wanted to know if they fit well, in opposite styles, like jazz, funk. as im learning to slap ill be slappin a lot with this basses and i wanted to know if they do the job well

Well, it depends who you ask....I have found over the years that Ibanez basses (Soundgears in particular) seem to do well in many different genres, especially those basses equipped with Bartolini pups. I however have almost no experience with some of the other Ibanez offerings (BTB, Ergodyne or even the SR Prestige series).
As far as "Slappin" I have read multiple threads in which people have expressed a strong dislike for the SR series in regards to slap/pop, the close string spacing can make it difficult, however I have a friend (slap/popper) that actually loves it for that very reason, so again it depends who you ask.
