The Ibanez Club (Part 3)

Hey guys . . . back on page 6 of this Club thread, there is a diagram that shows two ways for string installation on an Accu-Cast B205 bass bridge . . . for the life of me, I can only seem to get the first way, but am missing the case for number 2 - my preference.

I know it's written in plain english, but I'm an older dude, so forgive me if I can't figure it out . . . can someone go into more detail on this?

I'll take a crack at this. In the first diagram the ball-end catches the lip of the back end of the bridge, the tail piece. In the second diagram you put the string in at a 90 degree angle and then pull it up and forward so the ball-end of the string catches the lip of plate under the saddle which creates a stronger angle for the string to travel over the saddle. Maybe someone else can chime in as well.

Thanks christle . . . why didn't they say that? It makes sense now!

I didn't see the forward slot before . . . it does increase tension . . . makes the "B" feel much better . . . now on to the "E" . . . and the rest probably . . .

Riccaliolio: it's a 2008 limited edition BTB08LTD, so the finish is original.

I love the limited edition BTB paintjobs; there's also a BTB with a desert sand paintjob with military-style writings on it, very cool looking.

I gotta get in on this. I have played a RoadStar II for the last... gosh, twenty-five years? I got it new from a shop that took my '75 Fender Twin Reverb on trade even-up.

I put EMG pickups in it, and I have had other basses before and since, but I see no real reason to have another fretted 4-string. The Ibanez is universally wonderful!

I play it through a perhaps early '70s Ampeg V4-B with the reflex cab. I am completely in love with the sound and versatility, pick or fingers.

Can I have a number in the Ibanez club, please??
