The guitar tech at the GC that I go to said that the only way to fix it was to have a new neck ordered and installed. Since I bought it 2 days ago, I just returned it. The guitar guy that I know said that he was sorry about the trouble and gave me a 10% discount card that I used when I ordered my new SR750. The other store would not do anything. Can't believe that some stores will do anything to keep from giving you a refund.

That's just nuts by any line of reasoning.

What he might have confused is a slight concave relief that some player like - but a flat neck is very do-able and is preferred by most players - I don't think I'm stepping on sacred tails here by saying that.

In any case - a neck should be adjustable to get it flat - even if the owner wants it cupped a teeny, tiny bit. But it should always be achievable and not a normal situation that cannot be adjusted out.

These guys make GC sound like cretin-Mongoloid slobs and I apologize for the treatment you got.

Perhaps you'd do us all a favor to give us the address of the GC - I'm sure the GC slurp spiders are here all the time too. :help:

Representing the Ibanez Club with an EDC... I absolutely love this bass... but due to wear and tear and a lot of hours logged on it starting to have issues:crying:... thinking of possibly getting a new Ibanez though :bassist:

It's funny. I'm slowly coming to the realization that I enjoy playing the SRX more than I do the (twice as expensive, Prestige) SR. Ergonomics-wise, both are a dream to play, but the SR is clearly the better bass: lighter, with better contours and a ridiculously fast neck (I've said it before and I'll say it again, I have yet to play a better neck than the Ibanez SR). The only exception is slap, which the SRX's wider string spacing makes much easier.

However, when it comes to tone... Well, again, both are great basses, but the SR's sound is too modern for me. It's super-clean and versatile (especially now that there's a working preamp inside), but the SRX has a natural, vintage growl that lands somewhere on the Jazz/Stingray axis (only a tad less bright because of the neck-through construction), and I really, really dig it. I gotta give major props to Ibanez on this one: their Alnico PFR pickups work remarkably well.


(semi-related: I'm starting to think that maybe my ultimate dream bass is a Sadowsky, Sandberg or other "active Fender Jazz only with ergonomics that don't suck" bass)

Finally had my bass returned...Ibanez RB690, 1986 Roadstar ii in jet black....Came out with Jazz PU's in both bridge and neck possie's..plays beautifully....to go alongside my newly acquired 1969 Ibanez 1915 model HB....:cool:

I totally agree... the Ergodyne is the best of both worlds to me... play wise the neck is just, well.... wonderful :cool: and the pickups and electronics give it a great tone... it's a great bass and I love mine to death... def worth a try =D.... generic repetitive comment....
