3.) The pickups on my bass simply have plain black covers on them. And compared to this picture, the maple top on my bass is yellowish, and the mahogany body is much darker. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I must correct part of my above statement: Upon closer inspection, my pickups do say Bartolini on them.

I just never noticed it.

'79 Ibanez Musician MC900. They don't make 'em like they used to.

I used to have one of those. An 80´s one. Thought it was too bright and eventually sold it, it wasn´t my thing i guess.
A really really great bass after all.

Bought me an Ibanez artcore today and couldn´t be happier!
Love the big "gibson-like" neck and the meaty sound. Somewhere between a stingray and a thunderbird I would like to say(if that really is possible...)!
At least I´m happy.

Thank you, Mike. I just bought a BTB555 MPNTF and it says Ibanez on the pickups just like my BTB1000. Both were made in Japan. The 1999 BTB1000 has a three piece neck whereas the 2000 BTB555 has a five piece neck.

I play music man-styled basses now but also love the old guild/gibson hollow body basses. What there going for new/used is too much $$. So,I bought an ibanez Jack Cassidy model, its a copy of the gibson eb hollowbody bass. Its really a good insturment;I see a LOT of pictures of touring bands who play them! Great tone, good craftsmenship, awsome vibe. Problem is my neice is learning to play and bogarted mine! lol I'll have to buy her her own bass!

Played AmStd Jazz For 6 years, but ended up playing loving this one.

Sound is little twitchy (not fat enough), but I'm plannig some modification (stripping of paint and putting some fancy wood top on it , and bartolinis of course).

I'd just pop in some pickups. I love that color!

Speaking of PUps, I'm not shure wich to by. I've read alot about bartolinis on their site, but I'm still not quite shure should I go for Active Jazz Bass V pickups, or some other passive. Maybe a Wills's soapbar like bridge PU an J combination would be nice. The whole active vs. passive stuff really scare me, 'cause, some people say that bass like mine (lightweght basswood 5string) would not sound so good with passive PUs (as, they say, it would lose definition on it's 5th string). That crap really confuse me.

I got mine a month ago and love it. Four strings, two knobs. What could POSSIBLY go wrong? BTW, if you're thinking about flatwounds consider Rotosound 77 LD's.

Been looking at getting an Ibanez for a long time now. Love the EDC but I found an EDA 900 in Candy Red Burst in good condition. Can anyone tell me how it sounds and what I might be getting into. I got to play it a minute unplugged so I don't know how the peizo's and soap sounds, just need a good general description of the sound. Great playing bass and I am going to play it plugged in, but I just want to make sure it's worth my time and get some outside opinions on the bass.
