....well just like to say hi and show a not so good pic (taken with cell phone) of my TR500. I am a beginner and have been looking forward to getting my first Bass for a long time. I purchased this one today from a local music store and even though I believe they are discontinued, this one is brand new!

I have that bass though, I love it! Its one of the only basses I felt completely comfortable playing at the time of purchase. Its almost a year later and i still like it a lot so i think i made a good purchase!
here is the one i had to return in order to fund my Carvin, but i love Ibanez nonetheless.

There are some pretty hot ibanez basses on this site, im glad theres a place for the ibanez lovers to go, because i looovee ibanez, i am planning on getting a prestige btb sometime soon, all you prestige 6 owners are going to have to tell me how great they are, theres no store in town that carries them so i would have to order it. but for now i have my ibanez sr6string. and theres also my ibanez rg1527 and part of my sg lol. but yeah, good lookin basses everyone!

...a little clearer and larger! I haven't gotten my amp yet and this is my first Bass so I can't say much about how it sounds! I can say it feels pretty balanced and the thin neck is a plus. I notice no buzz also which was a concern.

you have some really kick ass basses. I have an Ibanez SB900. It is a really cool and light bass however I had to change the preamp circut. Unfirtunaltely i have not bee provided with a circut diagram and therefore it has been sitting around for months now. What a shame and pity. do you think that there is a way to find a circut diagram for the Ibanez SB900.

It is a pretty bass isn't it...
Overall the sound took some getting used to, with most of my basses I set my amps with a classic mid scoop - ya know boost ~ 50 - 80 hz, cut ~500 and boost ~3k - for a nice hifi tone. This bass has a pretty deep mid scoop built in, which seems to come mainly from the bart pre and pups, as acoustically the bass sounds great (un-amplified that is). Once I pulled my head out and boosted the mids at the amp all was getting better.
The bass has a thunderous bottom end, with smooth highs - but the mids do drive me a bit nuts still. I've been talking with my tech and we may replace the bart pre with an Audere. For playability – it’s perfect, no neck dive (unlike its neighbor the penta buzz), fast neck with great action – I’d really like to find a 4 string version…
As I stated in an earlier post I traded a 1996 Tobias Growler which I got off evilBay for $600 for this very unique Ibanez. Am I happy with the trade? Damn spiffy! If you can find one go for it, for they are fairly rare and sell for around $1500.

I think this bass does a very convincing warm P-bass tone with the neck pup soloed. It almost sounds like a passive P-bass! Then, when I switch to both pups on full it doesn't quite sound like a passive Jazz bass though. It sounds like a modern-sounding active bass. I still can't accurately describe what other bass it sounds closest to. Then, when I solo the bridge pup, it gets back near passive Jazz bass tone territory. I've also found that a favorite amp tone setting that sounds great with one pickup does not necessarily sound that good when you switch to another pickup. I've never had a bass that did this before. I'm guessing that the pickups must be voiced very differently from each other.
I'm not complaining mind you, I actually like it. (versatility)
It's just taken me time to find all the tones this bass can produce. I love the sound of the electronics, but I think the Bart pre/pup set up might be too warm for some player's likings.
I agree with you about its playability: scary good!
And one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played.
This bass reminds me a lot of a Peavey Cirrus feel-wise, but much, much warmer tone-wise.
