The amazing Basic 40
I bought a used one in 1985 at a pawn shop
to use as a practice amp. (my second amp)
I put a vintage Standel 100 watt 12" speaker
in it. Standel used modified JBL speakers.
If you use a preamp, the sound can be improved
quite a bit.
If I use it with a 30 watt Marshal Valve state
and line into the Basic 40, it almost sounds like
a half stack!

Yup, that's pretty cool. The other thing I like about the Basic 40 is that you can use a stereo cable to run an effects loop through the center jack, which was pretty cool for an 80s practice amp. This thing has been in and out of many truck beds and car trunks but it's very rugged.
wow - I've been longing for an M9! I had two Mesa Boogie Diesel 4x10s in college and they were awesome. I bet your Mesa rig kills.
Ever since the first time I'd heard one, I knew I wanted an Ampeg fliptop. Finally got a 1965 B-18N earlier this year and it's amazing. Such a deep and rich character; my Ric sounds super heavy through it even on the treble pickup! And the tubes take to my OD pedal super well
The only thing I'd consider is a 2x10 extension to use alongside the main 18" for larger gigs. At only 60w, there's potential for overpowering it, but the second cab would add great punch if I needed it. Thankfully playing in a reggae band, I don't have to compete with an insane noise floor.

For me, it'a an Eden CXC210 combo. It's an older model with the WT-330 Time Traveler amp. I use the combo with the D-115T cabinet. This has been my rig for over 5 years and still love playing through it as much now as when I first put this together.
well the only two amps I've owned are a behringer ultrabass bt108, and still absolutely hate it but that's a different thread, and a fender rumble 350 combo which i love. my fender is perfect for what I need, good sound quality for home practice (no band=no gigs), and a great table to hold anything I need for my bass. it's perfect for me!
I have had many amp rigs over the past 36 years. GK,Peavey, Kustom,Swr. I love my SWR Rig. I bought it in 96 and still in love. Basic 350 pre Fender with a goliath jr 2! But i have to say the best sounding rig i have ever played thru was a Trace Elliott rig. it was in the early 90's Tube amp with a 210 and a 410 speakers! It had awesome tone but it was 3500 bucks! Still dream of that rig!!!!
I love my TC RH450 and have sold every other head I owned (GK, Ampeg, Aguilar, Genz Benz, etc.). I just picked up a vintage Vox V125 bass head for fun (it was dirt cheap) but The TC is what I gig and rehearse with....
I do small gigs with a RS210 cab and sometimes add a RS112. I have a Sadowsky SA410 for big gigs.
I miss the tubiness of my old Ampeg SVT, but I don't miss carrying a 85lb head!

I'm using an old Music Man HD130 at the moment that I like. I had a Peavey Mega Bass in the 80's that was a really great amp and if see another one that still works I'd grab it.
Loving my Markbass LM2 - great sound, nice and light, no issues at all so far. I use it to drive either my Epi UL-112 (for quiet jazz gigs and rehearsals) or UL-410 (for louder gigs)
This rig has made me happier than I have ever been previously with ANY other rig. Not pictured is my Boss GT-10B preamp.
When combined with my 4003 (1968 Spec-modified) Ric, the growl is TOTALLY Tool (Undertow era) which is exactly what I have always been looking for.
At home- I keep my Ampeg SVT-450 (pretty cool in it's own right) and my prized Vintage 1972 Sunn 190B (ULTIMATE WARM, RICH TONE) which I send through a pair of 15" Eminence Deltas.
Also NOT pictured is my Sunn 215BH loaded with 2 JBL D140s-COMPLETE HI-FI insanity!!!
I will soon be using the Sunn Rig AND the Carvin/Mesa Rig live (for bigger shows). I want to have the Sunn tube amp set up for the effects/mids/high mids and the Carvin/Mesa for Fundamentals and growl.

SansAmp Bass Driver DI.
It doesn't mean I don't GAS from time to time about other power amps & cabs (but I'll never replace the 410HLF).
But, this rig makes me sound the way I want to, is very "tweekable", fairly portable, and was reasonably affordable...all "wins" in my book.

I have a GK 2000RB and neo 412, recently picked up a 400RB-II. The big rig, when I had to keep it in my little apartment served as a great nightstand, my speaker system and of course a good conversation starter. I loved the tone. Then B-String guided me through the process of upgrading the opamps in the head, now it sounds a billion times better, the tone really isn't of this earth anymore. I have been playing it so much the tendons in my wrist are sore. This amp will definitely never be leaving my hands.
