Monkeypüs.

CSB: 1985. In high school, my guitarist and I (whom I am still playing with), were trying to come up with a name for our band for the talent show.

In the middle of English Comp, we're supposed to be having a group discussion about Melville. So, we start kicking band names around. Coming up with the silliest, most obnoxious names we could.

'Four Finger Dig'
'William Bill For Short' (IMDB Mickey Rooney for the back story...)
'Drag Queens From Hell'
'No TP'
'3 Knuckles In'

..and I suggest 'Monkeypus'.

We double over in laughter at the absurdity. At this point, the Hockey player and two cheerleaders that had been sitting at our table - quietly - and slowly - got up and walked to the other side of the room.

...and didn't speak to either of us again.

I always thought a good heavy metal band name would be Flaming Barf Monky's From Hell.
