Thanks man! I reached out to Tim, per your suggestion, and I have a beautiful BT5EG 19mm on the way! :hyper:

I've played a lot of Smith's but never owned one because of the string spacing. I've always loved the tone though. I'm very excited about this one.

Awesome, congrats! Glad you found a 19. I almost bought one of Tim's basses, but I decided to trade my 4 string smith for a 5er.

These used smith basses are a bargain IMHO when you look at what you get in terms of build/sound quality.

Thanks guys. I should have it by this weekend. I'll report back after I've spent some time with it.

I'm a complete noob in the Smith world. It took me hours to figure out his model names on his website -- and I'm still not sure I even understand!

This one is an Elite G -- which is probably what I would have ordered new anyway as I like having the matching back (5 piece body). Although, I'm not sure if I would have gone with this body shape or the off-set one. Either way, I'm sure it will be great.

I got the BT5EG yesterday. Wow -- what an instrument. It has that classic Smith voicing and unbelievable playability. The craftsmanship is absolutely staggering. A beautiful bass!

I was playing my Ken Smith BSR5j today. I found an incredible Jaco burp tone, so I spent the better part of two hours playing Havona, and by the end, I was playing that crazy jump off a building, jump back up lick. That wouldn't happen on another instrument. Incredible playability and tone I get from my bass.

I used to have one, which Ronen has now, I would venture to say that it sounded very even and clear, with great articulation. I find my walnut bass has more bottom and color. I liked the mahogany better for high register stuff.
