Dear fellowbassists, not a Ken Smith user yet, but perhaps becoming one. What about the BSR fretless basses from Ken Smith? There's not much to find on YouTube regarding these fretless basses. Mostly the fretted 5 or 6 string. Why is that, are they less populair?

Body core is mahogany, two thin tiger maple laminates and top & back cocobolo. Center block is Walnut. The neck is a 5 piece maple and morado.
This must have been a special order but not mine... I got it in a trade.
Nut is 3/4" and bridge string spacing is 18mm. This is standard on a Smith 5.

Do you use the panknob for instance, and what about the setting of the volume? Which setting gets you the best "mwah" ?
Is the use of the passive mode any good?

I hardly use the high knob..usually it's on 1 or 2...but the mid control is where my sounds come from..up for rock and solo, down for blues and ballads...

Love my 4 string. I mean best bass ever. Think he'd do a 5 string E-C? Maybe 33" scale? I know I'm asking alot but I love Ken smith basses and I have short fingers.

Yep.....never.

I wish he would do a Singlecut body version.

Ken's basses sound the best to me, been a customer since 89 I just wish the bodies were more comfortable.

Tune Eb to B and capo at the first fret? You'd just have to retrain your mind around the off set markers.
