This bass is a work of art. Outstanding workmanship. Attention to the smallest details. Just stellar.
Sonically, this bass is a monster. Full and rich. Lots of information in each note, like 96 bit when regular basses are 16 bit.
I change tunings quite often with this bass (yes, I should just get 3 more...)
Standard 5 string.
Standard 5 string dropped a hole step (A, D, G, C, F) to accommodate a singer's limited range)
A 4th down from a standard 5 string (F#, B, E, A, D)
A whole step down from that (E [21Hz], A, D, G, C).
Yes, I have strings for each tuning.
This was my first 5 string bass. It was much harder coming to terms with the extra string than it was the added scale length. The balance of the body hangs the bridge farther to the right, bringing the nut to roughly the same place it would hang on, say, a Jazz. And really, since those extra inches are spread over all the frets, each fret is only a small fraction of an inch larger than the same fret on a 34" bass.
