My very first bass ever--an '87 Kramer Pioneer JJ--had that pickup setup at the bridge (plus another JJ at the neck). Versatile, and the series mode is 'Balls Deluxe!'The deluxe has Schaller dual J pickup with a three way switch for series parallel or split P configurations. It also has a Badass style bridge. I think that is the main difference from the standard model.
