Hey!I am about to be the proud owner of a Krappy Touchstyle.It will be a 12 string,34"scale with a Bloodwood body shaped like an Alembic Classic body.I have played bass off and on for the past 29 years,but playing a touchstyle instrument will be a new endevour.So any advise would be much appreciated!:hyper::bassist:

hey man i love my 12 stringer... you wanted to talk so let's talk... i have mine tuned in 4ths on both bass and melody side, it's crossed as well, been playing slightly over a year... so left hand is doing bass, and the lowest string is in the middle... rh does melody, and the lowest melody string is in the middle... there are many different tunings, so make your decision and let Kevin know, unless you already have... i tried 5ths in the basses and 4ths in melody, but wasn't happy, running bass lines were awkward to say the least in 5ths... with the 4ths i can play scales in both hands with ease and speed, as the moves are all the same... doing M and minor scales in octaves really got my chops up fast, i have now mastered M and m tenth scales with both hands going, it's easy and quick to dominate... after you have your M and minor scales in octaves under control, try contrary motion, ie bass line coming down and melody line going up... the variations are endless, it's much more like a keyboard than any guitar you've ever played... i have some soundfiles at myspace.com/tenorsf, 3 of 'em to be exact, i do mostly classical but some other stuff too, listen in... i would recommend a great setup guy pay some attention to your ax when you get it, it can really lower the action to have a level/dressage of frets, and that's all important in my estimation... take care... Hey All!My KrappyTouchstyle 12 is done.If you go to the Krappy site you'll see the "FauxLembic"I designed it after an Alembic Stanley Clarke Bass.It's body is made of Central American Bloodwood.The fingerboard is Brazilian Cherry.The bass side is tuned in fifths starting Bb.The treble side is EADGCF.It's quite likely that I will later change the bass side to fourths in Bb or B later.Then I will add "C" dots for every C note string position when I decide which tuning I prefer.(Thank you Mr. Openhill for the idea.

looking fwd to seeing the new ax on kevin's page, and seeing some soundfiles around here or on his site... have fun, ge, keep us apprised what's going on with your new faux lembic!

alrighty then checked it out; am curious as to how it feels to play, balance-wise... i have a pinnacle and am very pleased with the balance of the ax and it's ease of play, let us know how it goes... practice practice practice! congrats again!! we won't be hearing from you for about 6 months now, that's the way it goes when the krapmeister sends out something new!

another thing re dots on fingerboard: i found it a much cleaner look to put whatever dots you wanna use on the side of the fingerboard, theoretically we're not supposed to be looking at the fingerboard anyway and it encourages proper positioning to only sneak peeks at the side of the fingerboard... it has worked wonderfully for me, and certainly should at least be considered as an option... Kevin sent the ax with lil' paper stickum kinda dots, but i found those fell off... finally bought some Pearlescent Nail Polish, applied carefully and meticulously it looks just like mother of pearl and never falls off or gets dirty either... just another thought! good luck ge!

Yes.I have anticipated some balance issues.I think I may rig up a set of "Traktor suspendors"or fabricate something.As for as the "C" dots.Theres going to be a whole lot of looking at the fretboard at the onset considering I am a complete newbie at on a tapping instrument such as this.I am considering having a luthier put small 3/16" dot inlays at the C positions at some future time.And as far as posting any sound files.I am not that computer savvy.And at this time I don't have a webcam,as I have had nothing worth posting IMO.Well theres going to be some deep "Woodshedding"when it finally arrives.Go thing some vacation time is coming!

I just ordered a 2-string fretless punkbass literally a couple minutes ago. Thanks a lot guys, I didn't even know these things existed until I saw this thread and I was more than happy with my life. Then I saw this and now I'm $125 poorer. I wanted a Twiggy but didn't want to spend the cash. Maybe some other time.

Yeah, I can see that. For the brief time I had my Krappman Stick, it actually tweaked my nasal allergies from the dust still remaining.

I think a seal would be in order.
