The distorted parts on "Bros..." and "Amos Moses" are the Krappy tripleneck which has the standard 34" scale. All the non-distorted parts (plucked, bowed or slapped) are done on my DB which is around 41". So, you have good ears if the scale sounds long to you!

I've been digging the tones of my Stagg EUB for a while now. It's only a 3/4 size double bass but enough to notice. Are they low freq harmonics? You just don't get that out of 34" in my experience.

Heh, actually I thought about mixing gangsta rap and country songs about robbing liquor stores etc. more than four years ago, but didn't have any idea how to pull it off musically. I even talked about that in an interview last year. But a week ago it hit me that with crunk it'll be much easier than with gangsta, not to mention a lot more fun.

I've heard a version of "I Gotta Get Drunk" with rapped vocals done by a couple of country guys a while back, so this isn't really that new.

The funny thing is that I would probably have used my Hembry doubleneck BG and gone for a typical R&B bass sound except that I had left it at a drummer's place. So I used my DB instead, and now that the tracks are mixed I gotta say I'm glad I did.

But to stay on topic I should have a fourth song with a couple of Krappy parts up tomorrow - I just got the vocals for it from the other member.

Speaking of long scales, I was thinking... I have some old DB strings left including low Cs from fifths-tuned sets. Perhaps I could use them for a two-string EUB with as long a scale as possible that could be tuned ridiculously low?

"Long Line Of Losers" is now up too (at Link Removed). This one has less distortion on the Krappy tracks. The other tracks are remixed - finally put them in stereo, haha.

I'll see if I can work the Krappy into a video.

on his fretted touchstyle instruments the intonation's been dandy, i've checked out 4 of his axes and own one myself, and they're all fine... if you wish to change the string gauges you'll need to do some adjustments at the bridge, which can be a challenge because kevin glues the saddles in place- he can give you detailed instructions to break the glue and move 'em, but i've always found it easier to keep to standard string gauges and you'll be fine... i've played $ticKs and megatars and have heard no difference in intonation, kevin's work stands up very well to both of these in my estimation at less than half the price... as with most instruments that come from the factory, you should take the ax to a good setup guy once you get it, to level and dress the frets and get the lowest action possible- once you do that you're good to go...
