Got another update, the bass is complete!
Got the bass earlier today... it arrived perfect and even had some krappyguitars.com stickers in the box too! Haven't been able to put it down for a while now besides for the picture

Krappy tappers ... the 'tappistry' touchguitar / touchstyle forum is under new ownership and active again. I really like Krappy touchguitars and would love to see them posted at tappistry, hope to see some of you there.

I've had my "Krapstick" for a while, but when it arrived I was working on learning Bach's Prelude in Gmaj, so I fooled around with it a little, but put it aside. I recently went from not being able to play it on bass to being able to play it badly on bass, so I determined to start playing the Krappy.
I am so bad at it, I scaled my ambitions back from learning to play a two-part invention, to learning to play Bach's Prelude in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier (a technically easy piece). So far it is challenging me to my limits just to play the notes with any kind of tone.
And now for a question. My instrument seems to hum, especially on the bass side. Is that normal? Is there an electronic fix? Do I need to upgrade the pickups and/or electronics?

I swing both ways on that. I'm a krappy musician playing a krappy instrument.

they didn't come with shielding but mine was grounded correctly

I'm selling off some stuff to fund a 10-string bass/baritone touchboard. I sent Kevin a rough napkin drawing and presented my intent, looking forward to getting started. I've been wanting an axe like this for 40 years...

Really interested in the specs and the process. I’ve debated the same thing a few times. I always hesitate because of the bridge design and weird two tuners being flipped backwards. But I go through fits of really wanting to get a tapping instrument.
You mean single-string, isolated units- 1 per saddle- as opposed to a hard-tail with many saddles?
That'll add to cost I imagine, and if you're going this route then cost is probably an issue.
Kevin’s construction is actually really excellent, obviously he leaves some things a bit rough to deliver at such a low cost. I may give it a good sanding, filling and repainting, but it sounds great and the little neck is actually super comfortable.
I love my ridiculous 2 string, but unless you're going to use super light strings or you're fine with high action, you may be disappointed by the lack of truss rod.
