I noticed that there are a few headless designs on Krappy's site, does anyone know how those are tuned

allen wrenches. these keep tune great, but are a pain in the @$$ if you are on stage. i did a few of these, but quickly found that i would rather use standard tuners.

if you are at home or studio, they might be good but i am mainly a live player, so i give them a hearty thumbs down.

I am having my 2nd Krappy axe being built for me right now! This is a 17" scale 4-string electric solid-body something-or-other (tenor uke? alto guitar?).

It's gonna be a junior version of my 2-string Krappy bass (Les Paul-ish body shape, etc.)

but hey here i am, have had a pinnacle touchstyle for a while and loving it, jones-ing over here cuz i sent it to sf guitarworks for a complete level and dressage of the frets... hey kev when/if you read this great work man, i am loving the sounds i'm coming up with... will post soundfiles ere too long someplace and give ya some links... always the best, Eric

Four single strings or two courses of two? 17" would be the scale of a mandola.

Four single courses. I suppose a mandola is to a mandolin, what a tenor uke is to a soprano uke. But I would not tune it in ascending fifths, like mando family. I plan to tune to
open C-6th (G, C, E, A low to high). This is ukulele and/or the 4 highest strings on a guitar capo'd at 5th fret. I have a tenor banjo that I tune this way (I think they call that 'Chicago tuning' in old-timey jazz circles). Will be fun to hear what it sounds like and see what I can do with it. Already shopping for Fuzzbox and/or wah-wah!!

i love my 12 stringer, i don't mind saying it... have tried a chapman stick as well, and there's no way the stick is worth triple the cost of kevin's work... i actually had tried to contact 'em in search of a used stick or at least to ask some questions- good luck! nonexistent customer service, no calls back, no emails back... despite Kevin's claims of no support once you buy his axes, he was helpful, incredibly efficient, quick to communicate, in every way a gentleman and scholar... of course you all already know that! anyway, if any of you are curious about his touchstyle axes do yourselves a favor and buy one, ok? it's the cheapest way to get into the touchstyle world... the ax will need a good setup guy to level and dress frets etc, but once that's done it's a great ride... i'll be posting some sound files soon, and will add in 2 cents when it's appropriate... best to all... sftapper, krappyklub #6

By the way, Piotr, I ckecked out your bands' website. Awesome (and creepy) look and I am very interested to give a listen to Wolfmangler or DRC. Can I get CD's in USA? The only Polish CD that I own is by DZEM. Excellent blues-rock sung in Polish, but probably a lot different sound than yours. But I like Bill Monroe and David Allan Coe, and Unearth and Mastodon, and pretty much anything in between. Polska Redneck Metal may just suit me fine, wiesz ?

Besides... triple-neck bass (1-2-3 string) for the primary purpose of looking ridiculous, is still one of the best concepts I've ever heard. :)

As an American of Polish descent, I grew up hearing Polish jokes.... F them all, the joke's on them!!!!!

Ha, this is one of the few cases where looking creepy is useful. Yeah, sure, American metal distros should have both "My Firstborn Will Surely Be Blind" and the "Cask Strength Black Metal" CD versions. Some stores specializing in psychedelia, noise etc. might also.

FWIW, I really mostly play very normal music... though not on the Krappy.

I hadn't played my Twiggy for a week or two, and I took it out the other day to rehearse some Christmas music, and noticed a big honkin' buzz when playing something close to a D. It wasn't fingerboard buzz - turns out it was coming from inside. I took the truss rod cover off, and discovered that the rod was practically under zero tension - I could move the bolt with my fingers! A half-turn put just enough tension on to keep things quiet.

I suppose this is a Good Thing - the neck is obviously strong enough to keep the right relief without the rod coming into play. :-)

a short note: i took my 12 string touchstyle in to guitarworks in san francisco for a fret level and dressage and truss adjustment... omigod, the action is so low i can hardly believe my fingers... ya hardly have to touch the string to have it sound... it wasn't cheap, but for those that have bought touch instruments of the krappy persuasion it makes an amazing difference... these guys are so good i would consider shipping instruments in to their shop if i move away... hope you all are having good holidays, subjecting all around to krappy karols! cheers...
