Hi

I am thinking about getting a new bass rig and think about getting a cab stack of Kustom Deep End 115H + 210H. Can I get prospect status in the club?

I also wonder a bit about sensitivity and overall SPL for these cabs, compared to similar products from other manufacturers. Kustom does not specify this, and I would hate to invest in a cab stack that sounds smaller than its size... I have to keep up with a rock drummer in rehearsals.

All experiences with these cabs are welcome.

The jury is still out on what head I am getting, but I think it will be something small and lightweight in the 250-500W range.

I dig my Kustoms. A 118B loaded with a Faital 18FH500 and Alpha 6 CBMRA and 2x15 with the same CTS drivers as a B-15...

Hi. Was at rehearsal with a new band yesterday, and it turned out these guys were loud. I measured SPL in the room of at least 110dB, and that was before the drummer kicked in.

Will a Kustom DE210H + a Kustom DE115H combined be heard in this kind of setting?

(Yes, I wore ear protection)

You guys just need to turn down. Whatever style of music you're playing, that's just dumb, actually... you're all asking to go deaf.

I agree. I haven't really got that much band experience, and have only played in a band with a drum machine before this band. I don't know how quiet we can play with acoustic drums, so I appreciate the advice. We're playing blues / bluesrock covers.

Glad I didn't make you mad! Lol! Drummers are playing a lot of transients, which go away quickly but have a strong attack. Maybe lighter sticks, or maybe a little less gonzo and a little more attention to the song will help... but guitar players are notorious for "needing to be heard". We have one too- just don't let him carry you off into the Land of Murderous Decibels! Listen to the mix while you're playing, and I'd very much recommend a way to record rehearsals. We have a little Zoom H2 that does a fine job of capturing the room, and it's been telling in more ways than one.

Are these called '200' because they are 200 watts? I've always wanted to know; I always thought they were only 100 watts I have a late 60s / early 70s black tuck & roll version...

As I have staed in earlier posts, I am original ownerof 1971 K-S00-B.

I love it until I played against guitarists using MARSHALLS. Against those, I was redered essentialy mute.

As long as I was up against Fender Super or similar I could hold my own.
As far as wattage.Look on back of head: 100 Watts R M S .

This means 50 watts with a single 8ohm cab; 100 with a double cab.

Like so many other manufacturers, these heads were 'front loaded'...all the wattage is from 1 to to half way..afterward you only get more and more distortion.

At half volume and beyond, I could easily nail the tones of Felix Pappalardi or Jack Bruce..not a highly desirable tone in general. Maybe tone/ volume is enhanced with either Altec or JBL speaker options..I didn't know anything about anything,
so, when my parents... bought my Kustom in '71..I have
C TS speakers.
My fave tone is: Bright side: BASS FULL, TREBLE FULL, Bright Switch ON.

Only way my Kustom sounds good at any significant volume is via Furman PQ-3.

This is my first post on the forum, and scored both the head and cab locally in the same week from my local Craigslist. The cab is near mint and loaded with Altec Lansings. The head works great but not mint. I hope to get the blue lights working and maybe convert the cord to a 3 prong.

This baby rocks and sounds great with my modded Squier 70's modified with flats! Does this post mean I can get a number in my first TB Club? :D

If anyone can help me with serial numbers on this rig, I would appreciate it. I saw on the vintage kustom site that there was a chart of some sort which is not posted anymore.

The head serial number is 75069 and has a black plate

The cabinet is 35934 and has a silver plate

Thanks in advance!
