Just got a new jazz bass and putting some of these on it. Really love them on all of my other basses. I have read a lot of back and forth that people like other LaBellas for jazz basses... but we will see. Waiting for them to arrive.

If you find the FLs a bit too scooped, but otherwise you like them, I'd highly reccomend the Olinto set.

I've only skimmed the thread and am sorry if this has been asked before.
Labella does the '54 Jamerson Flats and the medium tension 49-109 set. These seem to be very close to each other in terms of gauge. Is there a tonal difference between the two?

Just put some 760FL's on my jazz bass and I'm loving them. I have them on all of my basses, so they def feel familiar. They are a little dark for this bass. Can't tell if that's something to get used to or if I'll want something like the SLs. People have recc'd the Olintos, but I like the light gauge and those maybe seem too thick? Can anyone comment on that?

1 year and 8 months on a ser DTF FM760-P on my Squier Mini P.

Olintos are very easy to play despite the large gauge. they feel a bit softer to me than the FLs.

This is crazy... I've had the regular 760fl's on my Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn, stung through the body, for roughly 8 years... never any issues and sounds amazing.

I had them installed that way on an American Series P-Bass and I had no problems, but when I shipped it to it's new owner it arrived with two broken strings!

So... have the 760FL's on my jazz. Had single coils and they sounded great. Just replaced the SC's with Humbucker equivalent it's almost sounding too bass heavy. What other LaBella flats might work that are a little bit less bassy?

Have you compared before and after recordings to verify boosts in bass signals? Any particular frequencies that are higher with the humbuckers? Also, do you perceive more bass with fingers and/or pick?

Just went through my flats stash and just didn't love the feel of anything but the 760 FLs with this bass. The sound is a little dark/lacking some highs and a little dark. I think I'd like a string with the same feel, similar tension, and size (lights) but maybe not as dark.

I've been a long time fan of the LaBella 760FL set but when I tried them on my Fender American Professional Jazz Bass they just didn't work as well. No matter how I tweaked the setup they just felt too tense for that bass, even though I use the 760FL set on my other Jazz Bass (a '62 AVRI that I bought new in 1988).

A friend gave me a used set of Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats to try on this bass, but once again I found these strings too loose and I didn't care for the mid-heavy/bottom-shy sound. I think I may have found the right strings for this bass with the LaBella Low Tension Flats. I did have to make some setup changes including loosening the truss rod 1/8 of a turn, but overall I am pleased so far. The sound is similar to the 760FL set with maybe a bit more evenness and clarity and slightly less of an "old school" sound. They don't have the inherent brightness of a new set of 760FL's, sounding more like a set that is already been broken in after a few months of playing. The D & G are a bit brighter than the lower strings, but to me that's just the character of LaBella flats regardless of the gauge. Even the three-year old 760FL set on my P-Bass retains this aspect. I'll reserve final judgment until I use this bass on a few gigs and I'll report back here once I do.

Now five of my six electric basses are wearing LaBella flats, the sole holdout being my Music Man Stingray which was voted "Bass Most Likely To Be Slapped" in the high school yearbook

Hey guys, I want to put 760s on one of my new basses. I have had the orangish/reddish silk ones on my '70 P for over a dozen years now and want the same ones (my favorite strings!). Are those FLs? Just want to double check...
