what makes you say this? i recently bought the 760FL set with thw tapered B directly from Labella.Looks like La Bella is no longer making a tapered B string. Any other brands make a flat with a tapered B, possibly E string also? Specifically flats.

have you given the Olintos a try?Having tried and ultimately discarded the Jamerson set, I just ordered a set of the FL's for one of my P basses. I liked the way the Jamerson set sounded, but they were just exhausting to play for my relatively inexperienced hands.
Have not, no. I’ve tried fender 9050s, EB Bobalt, LaBella Jamersons, and GHs. My favorites on a precision bass have been the GHS. The FLs arrived yesterday and I installed them and set up the bass, but didn’t get to play them much.have you given the Olintos a try?

I too have another bass with GHS stainless flats and to me the FLs feel smoother and with less tension.I have another precision that wears GHS flats and I expect these to feel similar but sound like the DTFs.
For me, the biggest difference between the two is tone. They feel very similar in terms of tension.I too have another bass with GHS stainless flats and to me the FLs feel smoother and with less tension.
It's been a couple of weeks now, and I am VERY happy with the FL set. They sound and feel terrific, and are breaking in nicely.I have another precision that wears GHS flats and I expect these to feel similar but sound like the DTFs.
On their website it says they stopped production of the tapered B string in May. I ordered some from Sweetwater and they came without the taper, so I looked into why. I really enjoyed the tapered B, but I'll have to get used to it I guess.what makes you say this? i recently bought the 760FL set with thw tapered B directly from Labella.
ah i see. that's unfortunate. i have used that B for a long time and it works very well. maybe there are some left at the various online sellers. On their website it says they stopped production of the tapered B string in May. They get better with age, lows tighten and the highs temper nicely.I subscribed to this thread out of curiosity - finally got a set of the 760FLs on my main bass about a week ago. So far, huge victory.![]()
Don't we all do that? They get better with age, lows tighten and the highs temper nicely.
yep. Though, some do take longer than others.Don't we all do that?![]()
