Yes, I've had a set of FL's on one of my AVRI '62 P basses since Feb 2001, they're definitely broken in.

I go through basses like a hot knife through butter. I'm a trading gear ho. But I always take my FL's off the basses and put them on my next bass. You can have my basses.... but not my FL's.
I mostly use Ernie Ball flats but I have these on my fretless P. They are strung through the body and have been on the bass about 5 years.
Break? I have sets of FL's that are older than my kids. Never ever ever had. LaBella 760FL break. EB Cobalt Flats? Broke the D string installing the first and last two sets I purchased.
@armybass is right... If you want flats that break without warning, get the EB Cobalt Flats.
La Bella flats only break as a result of user error, such as putting them thru body when there is an explicit instruction against it from the manufacturer.

Question, though, would there be any issue with my setup, or the strings if I were to take them off and string through the bridge?

As long as you haven't had any issues the way they've been installed, you should leave them alone. Your attempt to re-install them can be detrimental.
Yes, they call it a taper. I forget the right phrase for what I'm refering to. I probably should have said exposed core. Although, La Bellas are not exactly that either, but close.
There is a difference between "tapered end" and "exposed core".
Exposed core = Bare naked.
Tapered end = Down to underwear.
True, but it functions the same way. A big heavy string, like a B string, with a skinny end feels rather floppy to me and intonates differently from a regular ended string.
I was just trying to make a simple point that the La Bella flatwound B-string is "tapered" but not "exposed core". That's all.
Agreed. I've tried this and the strings were never quite right. It could also lead to breakage.
I am with ya brother lefty. I recorded some badass tracks with those strings. I keep them on my Jazz Bass and use GHS Flats 3025 on my PBass as they are a little less boomy but I tend to switch back and forth.
I don't string them through the body as a matter of fact I don't string any flats through body, nor am I a Hard player quite the opposite. Bad luck? Maybe, I've tried them twice and both times they have broken right at the ball end,can't see that it's anything I'm doing. Never had this issue with any other flat
