Great pop and rock bands which became influential from the late 90s on:
Radiohead.
Radiohead.
Nine Inch Nails.
Queens of the Stone Age.

The Mars Volta.
Coldplay (anyone being an indie snob can f**k off).
Smashing Pumpkins (before reunion).
Skunk Anansie.
The Roots.
Tool.
Deftones.
Oh, and Radiohead too.

MY BAND....
nah just kiddin for me i'd have to say iron maiden as this is band thats stood the test of time (going since 1975 ) and still to this day churns out awesome music and awesome stage presence despite most of the band being so old their starting to fossilze not to mention thier genuine apriciation to the fans
but i think the most important part of any band when it comes to greatness is the ability to inspire and it was steve harris that inspired me to pick up the 4 string and play oldschool metal when everyone else was playing guitar in a wannabe blink 182 punk band
