166 members so far! Woo!

Time to consolidate my basses. I started playing bass 2-3 years ago, and since then I have purchased 3 (used) basses. The latest purchase is a Rickenbacker 4001. I play bass in rock bands, so the Rickenbacker fits me perfectly. The slightly shorter scale and non-wide neck makes it easier to play. I want to keep only two basses, so I might sell one bass, or sell the two non-Rickenbackers and get another bass altogether.

Without mentioning what my other two basses are, what other bass would you get to compliment a Rickenbacker with rounds? I should be playing rock 95% of the time, but I would to play other types (soul/reggae) if I ever had free time (ha!).

I am posting this in the lefty union, because you guys know what basses are available to me!

Probably a Jazz of some sort. Either way, opt for something less "modern" sounding than your Ric with rounds. Besides, I've found that it isn't difficult to adapt a "less modern" sounding bass to modern music - it's all in the strings and tone settings.

Or you could go in the other direction and go for a "swiss army knife" kind of bass. :D
