When I first joined Talk Bass I often felt out of place because I wasn't in a band or group and I didn't play professionally. I felt I couldn't really make any comments because I wasn't in a band or played professionally but then I realized I could make comments and suggestions because most things boil down to common sense and I also have invaluable life experience and plenty of experience with different gear. I think bands are cool and I think professional musicians are very cool but I get a huge rush and satisfaction out of finally learning a certain song.This club was inspired and started because of a post by Danharris.

True story: a friend of mine literally transcribed about 30-40 of the songs from that book into Sibelius and learnt all the guitar parts (!) Then he and another friend did backing vocals and he played bass (he had to teach himself too! He has more respect for my playing now ) Then they were trying to get gigs as a Beatles cover band, and no-one would book them because they "sounded too good" and one guy actually accused them of sounding like there were more than just two of them and a backing-track "no-one could do that!".

So sometimes it's a better idea just to be a lone wolf! I have that book and it's helpful with some of the parts that's hard to hear with the rest of the instruments. But be wary, the scores still get things wrong!

Great story and yeah a two man Beatle cover band is a tough sell if they could do a new twist on some Beatles songs I think that would sell. I've corrected so many Beatles tabs I stopped doing it if you start from the beginning of his career to the end you can see his progression and style of play changing it's really cool and it keeps me busy.
