What other Melvins is there these days?
The Melvins are King Buzzo, Dale Crover, Jared Warren and Coady Willis(the last two being the members of Big Business; I think Big Business added a guitardist recently too)
That was my whole point earlier when I said I missed Kevin Rutmanis. I miss them as a 3 piece; they are a 4 piece and have been for some time now...since 2006 I believe.
Does anyone know who the Lorax is?!

the Melvins first album Gluey Porch treatments came out in 1987...cudos to you all on having good taste re this awesome band even if your appreciation falls squarely into the "Johnny Come Lately "category.
Learn yourselves mo better though...try google searches...something old farts like me never had.
We learned about rad bands through word of mouth and something y'all never heard of...zines.

Yes, I remember seeing them play a small art space in DC called "DC Space" back in 90 on the Ozma tour. Absolutly on of the best shows I have seen!
FWIW- I saw them play as a three piece last year.

Ain't eBay the greatest thing ever; even if you live in places like Vermont or Maine you can still buy all this stuff that only just recently came to your attention most facilely via the internet(I also happen to own a real copy of Gluey Porch Treatments.

I actually covered Skin Horse at my solo gig last night.
Oh, I also saw Dale Crover outside having a cigarette before a Shrinebuilder show a couple months ago. I wanted to go over and say hi, but I turned around for about 5 seconds, and then he was gone. Sucks, he seems awesome and funny from what I heard. And one hell of an underrated drummer.

And though it seems like a bit of a stretch, I always thought Dale Crover deserved some consideration for the Zeppelin slot...he definitely has a bit of John Bonham in his approach....better time keeping and better hi-hat than Jason Bonham that's for sure.

what did you guys think of the "jelvins"? I wasn't crazy about it, although I like Jello and I like the melvins
No, it was with Trevor Dunn on their Silver Anniversary tour. I could go on and say that I've seen them with their original drummer (with Dale on bass), as well as Buzz and Dale doing a set as a two piece (sans bassist) but I'm not so down with that sort of bragging.
Actually, I got into the Melvins way back, because I'd heard of them due to their association with Nirvana, and when I was 12 or 13, Nirvana was one of my favorite bands. Which lead me to the Melvins, via my local record store.
That was all pre-internet, so, uh, don't assume. It makes an ass out of you and me.
