the mid-life rut?

Nice......but needs improvement. Release the SBD, now.......WAIT, let it mature and age properly, THEN call her over.

MASTER!!! TEACH ME MORE.

I know the feeling OP. I'm about to turn 30 and feel the same way. Most days it feels like you're just going through the motions. I don't get excited about much of anything anymore.

I've gone through this a few times before and the last time I ended up quiting my job and traveling the world for almost two years. It was amazing but now I'm right back to life as before but now with a wife and a kid.

I've found exercise helps and most of all being around friends and interacting with other people. I guess it could be depression, but usually it passes with time.

so,basically, doing things you like such as travel=good....doing all the stuff people tell you you're supposed to=bad.....been there, done that..there is an incredible amount of pressure on people to follow certain societal norms...but,some of us were never meant to fit into the job/wife/kids nexus, and unfortunately by the time we figure it all out,we've made a whole pile of commitments..

..there are down sides to carving out your own path, but everything has a price i guess.....i grew to realize that a lot of people i knew were just not worth the effort and started removing them from my routine, and it was a revelation.....

i learned that a lot of societal interactions involve more bad than good,at least for me,so see ya....but again there is a price.....the trick is to recognize which of them you value and which you don't and start the cull....

but you have a family and that kinda limits your options,so.....imho,and all that

Is this a club that gives out numbers? Cuz I feel it sometimes too.

Seriously though, I met up with a casual friend a few hours ago for burgers. It was the first time we really talked that wasn't in a party atmosphere. I learned that we have much more in common than I knew. His insights into his own unpleasant events in the past really did resonate with similar things that I'm going through now. It was great to bond with someone (in person) even if it was just for a few hours. Even though they won't be there when you lay your head down for the nite (unless you're really close!), you can never have too many people to talk to in your life. This is coming from someone who doesn't like being around people too often, and is somewhat awkward with mere conversation.

Hang in there, OP. Are there any upcoming bass GTGs in your area?

So, my 94 year-old dad's now in a nursing home for good... which in his case is estimated to be about 2-4 weeks. He signed a DNR, doesn't want to go back to the hospital, but doesn't quite get the full picture yet. Still wants to do therapy, thinks he can be fitted with an artificial leg if he can just build his strength up... meanwhile they've dropped the blood thinners as they do more harm than good at this point. He has CHF and his body can't keep up with the excess fluid. He's a leaky ship with a busted ballast pump.

I look around the nursing home and at the human vegetables propped up in their wheelchairs with their heads lolling around and think it's better for your brain to ferment than to keep your faculties and watch your body gradually shut down.

Mid-life rut. At least you can climb out of a rut. It's that unavoidable end-of-life cliff that really ruins your day.

Now... more advanced farting techniques, please!
