For the record - that is a sexy color!

Played a nice used m5v at Corner Music in Nashville today. It was a burst alder/rw with a mint guard. I think they wanted around 1600 for it. Didn't plug it in, but it sounded great acoustically. very clean. Just a heads up for anyone looking. It's nice to walk into a store with 5 Lulls hanging there. Nice guys too. Bought chromes for both my Lulls today. Lets see how they do. I'm in the "any little bit of finger noise drives me crazy" phase. If these don't thrill me, it's on to TI's or Sad's.

Yup. And Ed @ Gelb is an amazing resource. He's worked with Mike & Paul on everything from a standard P5 to a, "No kidding?" M5-24. They've currently got four on the wall that give me goose bumps every time I go in....and a used oly white alder/rosewood M5V on consignment that makes me very grateful I already have that territory covered.

Hey all,

Not much action here lately. Just a random update on where I'm at with my Lulls.

Put some Chromes on the fretless and I'm lovin em. I like the brighter flat sound I'm pulling out of the bass. I'm sure I'll try TI's or Sads on it at some point. This bass is just awesome and I smile every time I play it.

I put Chromes on the PJ5-24V and I don't dig them quite as much. There seems to be a bit too much fret clank under the left hand especially on the lower strings. I wanted to cut down on roundwound "scratchiness" on this bass, but Chromes don't seem to be MY answer. I have GHS Nylons coming next week. Let's see if I like the smooth thumpy glory of the nylons. The gauge of these strings will make switching back to rounds very easy if I need too. I'll probably need to do that for pit work. Lovin this bass too!
