that's highly subjective thing (people and basses seem to like certain things in strings).
they are not overly expensive if you're into experimentation.

I can tell you what I like:
Sadowsky black label flats for a 5 string P/J. That's what I have on my L2500 and P5.

I sort of wondered what my Devon 5 might sound like with flats, I will keep the black labels in mind if I decide to go that direction. I know what you mean about certain strings being complimentry to certain basses, what works great for one may pale on another.

I only spoke to Mike once or twice. And he was funny and so friendly not to mention incredibly helpful and passionate about our shared loved..... his Basses.

I liked the Lull. It was warmer without being dull and the slap still sounded great and not brittle. But they both sounded really good.

Beautiful, Brad! I'm a huge fan of Lull PJs.

I was at the shop yesterday dropping off a bass for setup. It was my first visit to the "new" location. I got to play a few of the in-stock basses, including a massive-sounding P5 and a couple of super JT's. Amazing quality and creativity! The custom TXB4 in black stained purple burst is drop-dead gorgeous! Preston and Spencer were both at the shop and were very friendly and gracious with their time. The family business is clearly in good hands!

Not sure if everyone is aware, but yesterday marked the first anniversary of Mike's passing. I'm taking some time to remember the man who created these wonderful instruments, and also to honor someone I was lucky enough to call my friend.
