Yep my M5 (fretless) with Lull/Duncan stacked humbuckers is the same as far as reduced output in HB mode goes. It's great to have the option of single-coil and humbucker as it gives you two sounds to choose from, so that is always cool. I find I mostly use mine in single-coil mode though, but if I want a warmer/fuller sound I can dial that in with the humbucker. The bass is pretty quiet in either mode. The single coil hum is there if you listen for it, but I would never notice it at a gig or even a rehearsal.

But I have to say... a split-coil J pickup often has the best sound in my view. And, it is of course humbucking. Only it doesn't give the single-coil sound as an option, which the stacked coils do. It's been sometime since I have tried Dimarzios, but I currently have Delanos and Bartolinis in two other basses, and I'm seriously thinking about swapping the Duncans for Barts in the M5 fretless. Its a 1999 model though, so 25 years old and officially vintage now (?), and so equally tempting to leave as is. Plus, Mike installed them!

I have never seen such pickups on a Lull (the orange one). What are these ? They make me think of something between Stenback and the 60's/70's Sadowsky humbucker.

For sure, this is my all-time favorite bass color! It can look more charcoal in lower lighting, but the pic above is a really good color representation.

I'm addicted to the ML T-Bird pups! They're something special…

I think I'm a Lull club member. My M4V is now 17 years old and still my favorite bass to gig and record with. Mike made mine himself back in the day.

Couldn't help myself…another NBD…

Listened to Spencer's IG vid (with good headphones)…thought it sounded particularly resonant/amazing, so... Upon arrival, it's indeed exceptional! D's NYXL (45-100) strings on it, are a killer match. Sometimes you get an axe that just stands out…this is one.

Initial test run: SVT-3PRO>Bergantino NV610T. Oh my…: )
