The Mike Lull Club Part 4

I am really loving the weight of this Lull, bang on 8lbs by my scales and on the owner certificate. It just makes playing so much easier than with a heavy bass.
I hadn't realised that there were different sizes if Ultralite tuners.. These look very toy like compared to the tuners fitted to my Nordstrands which look a lot more substantial.
Never the less the bass sounds great and is defo is a keeper. :)

They are fantastic, I have them on both of my basses, they are just a larger shaft on my Nordy which surprised me, I don't think it is skimping on quality I think they are probably just a bit lighter?

just got back from Mike's shop a while ago where I got the chance to play a JT5-24 in trans orange over ash with a rosewood fretboard and black headstock. holy moly was that thing nice. incredibly light, well balanced, very playable and the tone. it was big without being boomy, smooth but articulate, and it spoke with such authority. I now have a new GAS.

unfortunately no. he did have quite a few good looking basses in his shop. there was an M5V in trans blue over ash with a birdseye maple board and white pearloid pickguard. and an NRT4 in cherryburst over mahogany which Mike said is now his personal bass. the JT5-24 I played was similar to this

I read trans blue and my heart started beating faster! I thought it might be mine, which is in production right now, but mine is a M4V and the neck is being fit with LEDs in the UK I think... Oh God, the waiting is painful!

Here is my "new" Lull M4V with a new 4 ply Tortoiseshell pickguard. Specs are Ash body with Quilted Maple top, Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard. I am digging this bass! First Jazz I've owned with an Ebony board and it sounds great. Really articulate with a nice warmth.

The bass came with an Aguilar OBP-1 and the stock Lull designed Fralin single coils. I like the setup. After owning a few Sadowskys I really started to appreciate the boost only preamp(with passive tone control). The Lull has more of that classic Fender J tone than the Sadowsky.

Good to have both I guess, I do prefer the classic fender tone over the more modern though
