I've had a plastic battery compartment on an old Carvin of mine go "blewie," so I tend to not trust those. Lull's implementation of the battery compartment is just like my MTD (separate screw plate) and I see no downside to this design. I don't think there's any good that can come from digging around where the electronics are. Realistically that's not a big deal but...
+1 The plastic compartment is kind of a mixed blessing... easy, but a little fragile. The MTD/Lull execution (assuming Lull does brass inserts like MTD) is a good one. I agree.... I enjoy never having to open up the main compartment, and while batteries virtually never leak any more, nice to have them not close to the important stuff.
