The Mike Lull Club Part 4

Greg at Rocket was telling me about it.....That is definitely next years plan! I still dont have this years plan yet! lol 8 more weeks! If you go by and see a green metallic P bass let me know how it looks!
I think when I do that PJ I am gonna go with a black and maple.

Thats actually BIG Singles...
I was just at Carey's shop this week and we were discussing the description of Big Singles.
He calls it "Its a Jazz with just more of everything" "I call it a thick pickup with the upper mid openness, clarity and snap of a single" He agreed with my description as well.

Tony what kind of preamp is in it? I have a obp-3 in mine and the treble doesn't so much of anything. I had a john east retro deluxe in another bass I had and really liked it......I don't even have my newest Lull yet and am planning out another!!

I've got an OBP-3 in my M5V that dominates pretty much any situation I've had it in. It's awesome.

I have an OBP-1 in my M4V that I want to like, but I don't. I hear it and the Sadowsky pre are very similar tonally but it just doesn't do it for me. Whereas the Sadowsky pre is just killer.

The preamp I switched the Aguilar for was a Sadowsky. Not at all similar in how they functioned in that bass - even in passive mode.

After a long gig less drought, I had two this weekend. Both were singer/acoustic guitarist and bass duo. One was stuffed in a corner of a pub and the other was outdoors on a large stage. I left the fancy pants basses at home and just used my Lull P4, passive with a Fralin pickup on both gigs.

Right choice. Plug and play. EQ nearly flat on the amp for both gigs and the tone fit beautifully.

This pic is from the "stuffed in a corner gig" with my P4 in all its LPB glory.

Bart Pre in mine.
Aguliar products are not my choice.

About 2 months ago I spoke with Mike and spec'd out a new Bass:

MV5 34" scale
PJ pup configuration (Aggie P pup and a Seymour Duncan Jazz) and Bart pre
Lightweight Jazz Style Alder body (two-tone Tobacco Burst)
Rosewood fretboard
total weight 8lbs or less

Spoke with Paul earlier in the week and it's still a month or so away. I'll post pics when it arrives...
