Simple question- Been digging the P-bass tone lately. Already have a Fender AVRI w/ 1.75" neck and wouldn't mind another P with the more current 1.625" nut width. Are Mike's PJ's "as good" as his more traditional P's that everyone raves about? My other bass is a Lull M4V so it would be cool to have a hybrid of both!

But on a serious note...I loved Mikes PJs and I'm not a PJ kind of guy (normally).

Similar to my other gloss neck, vintage frets, black painted head stock in Trans Red (as chosen by my daughter lol)
Here is the kicker
T-bird pickups in the P positing/spacing (further back)
No pan pot, so I can bring out the tone more of the pickups. Passive but, I added not 1 but 2 dummy pots (in case I choose to add a pre) 3 way toggle for the pickups.
Mike has not made one like this yet He says. I'm Stoked

I played a lot of basses in the both @ NAMM and including Bryan's...Whats interesting is the T-bird pickups sound good slapped, especially in the P pickup spacing. Not that this bass will have that be its main purpose...but if something is to muddy for percussive playing then its not an instrument for me.
Its going to be different for sure...But I wanted that and I'm stoked.
If I solo just the neck pickup I will truly have the same spot as P bass but with T-bird pickup and that might work out well for some jangly singer-songwriter stuff that I have coming up.
NBD. A metallic gold M4V showed up at Bass San Diego, and I had to have it. Lindy + Bart. Weights 7 lbs. 11 oz. Plays like butter.
I had to replace the plain white guard with white pearloid. Yes, it's telling that I had one lying around.
I've owned a lot of Lul basses, and this is one of the best!

Maybe a weird post...I've got nothing new (Lull-wise) to show off. But, I just have to say (after playing my M5 fretless for awhile tonight) Lull's are so ridiculously comfortable to play! I don't know if it's just the neck feel or what? They're just flat out comfortable to play! I find myself pulling this bass to noodle with, over anything else...and I seriously love other brands, too! Why is this the case with Lull's? What is Mike doing, that makes them so subtly addicting? PleK'ing? I usually tell people it's the neck feel, but seems more than that?

I think its a combination of profile/shape of the neck, plus that (to me and my hands) excellent satin finish. I like other brands too, and everyone raves about, for example, Lakland necks. I prefer Mike's to those.
