That was that 2009 NAMM bass, wasn't it? I was very tempted by that bass myself. You guys enjoy the new basses.
I've got question to lull owners with maple fingerboard. What do you use for cleaning? Till present time (for darkwood) i used the following cleaner:

Is it OK for maple fingerboard?

Lulls, like 99% of manufactures that use make Maple fretboards that are sealed with a lacquer (a thin one, I'e never had any "drag" like a heavily poly-finished neck when playing my Lulls) and unless you've broken through that and have started to break down the wood (think EVH and his dark, grimy uncoated Maple fretboards) just some simple maintenance should be good. You'd be surprised how much help simply wiping down your strings after playing helps, unless you happen to have super-acidic sweat (if you go through strings in a matter of weeks because they "die" super-early, that's you).
I actually use the above Dunlop products on my Rosewood, Pau Ferro, and Wenge fretboards and like them a great deal in maintaining a properly-oiled fretboard (for some reason, my Spectors like to dry out unless oiled a few times a year) but they should not be used on a Maple fretboard. Also, nothing that contains waxes as well. I've heard good things about Ernie Ball's "Wonder Wipes" for all cleaning in general, but especially their Fretboard Conditioner.

So, I bought this bass from Brian B at the Dallas Guitar Show. My intent was to flip it and use the funds towards another Sadowsky. I put it in the classifieds, on Craigslist & Ebay. It got some attention, but nothing but low-ball offers. During this, I strung it with some Fat Beams and did some recording work with it.
Holy crap, I can't tell you how glad I am I didn't sell it. Seriously, this bass sounds like a million bucks! It sits in the mix in my current band's stuff MUCH better than any other bass I currently own.
Putting those DR strings on really made a HUGE difference. Crazy that I almost went with a low-ball offer when all it needed was a different set o' strings to be a "keeper".

Luckily it is become your keeper again, I only strung DR sunbeams to the Lull Modern 5 to get the best sounding out of it...it is definitely two different world if the string is crap or simply don't suit the bass...I strung D'addario in the past... after tested the DR... just wowed me....

Thanks! Me too. I'm not craze about the black body though. I slap, strum, tap etc quite a bit and it never looks clean.
I might repaint it, Shoreline Gold (like the US Marcus 5), maybe something like that in the near future?

+1, the DR Steel Lowriders are amazing on my Lull, althought I currently have the Nickles, which sound a little less alive, but still work really well.

Just hang on to that Lull! It's funny I bought my Lull as a used back-up bass, but it's turned out to be VERY near and ear to my heart. Depending on how the wind blows, I could consider it my main go-to bass.

Good luck with that - I've spoken to Mike & Roger about their fretless basses, and they informed me that the amount they've made have been in the "single digits", and by those odds alone you're simply not going to find one on the used market. And no, you can't have my Modern 4 & 5 either.
However, I got the change to spend some Quality Time with Bryan Beller's Modern 5 fretless and can say that it certainly lives up to what you'd expect a Mike Lull fretless to play and sound like - absolutely the easiest playing and best-sounding fretless J-bass I've ever laid my hands on. A few pages back I said I'd write up a review of the bass after speaking to Mike & Roger to clear up a few technical questions - that's been taken care of, and I've added "Write Lull Modern 5 fretless review" on my to-do list. I'll have that done for the community in the next few days, but here's a great example of BB's fretless playing a European radio show with only Mike Keneally on acoustic guitar:

Well, with the used market being what it is these days, I could buy a used fretted on the 'bay and have $$ left over to go for a de-fret job. We shall see.....

Whoa! Those are cool! Love that the fretless has that cut down horn.
A quick question. I know I could just call Roger and Mike and get the answer but figured I would throw it out here. Has anyone ever had Mike build a bass with 19mm spacing? I loved the M5 that I had but the spacing was just too narrow. So, I just do not know if Mike will do 19mm and what the upcharge is for it.
I'm sure Mike would do it. Mine is standard 5 string(18mm or somewhere about that).
