Congrats Rick! I played that one when it came to Jorg... He knew I was a Lull guy so he offered it to me first, but that was after I just bought my PJ5 from NAMM... Would've liked yours but mine is just fine. There's something about the older Lulls that I like.

Wow, what are the odds of you seeing the bass I bought later? As you might have noticed when you played it, the action and strings were a little wacky, but a little adjustment did wonders. I should probably have the Plek done, but don't want to give it up - I've used it for every gig since I got it, thinking I'd use it mostly at home for recording.
It sure has a nice feel, but the spacing was a little wider than my Stingray 5, which took a couple gigs to get used to.

Yup, Mike's fretjobs are wonderous, so I'm not surprised a little setup is all it needed.
I've got a pleked one but I've also played Mike's hand fretwork. Both are outstanding!
Yep! I jumped in at the very last minute and basically stole it at that price. Very happy with myself
When I played it at Jorg's house it just literally just arrived that afternoon from Florida so the action was hiiiiiigh... But it still played and sounded great.
Mike's fretwork is excellent, but now that I have 1 Plek'd and 1 non-Plek'd Lull I am a Plek believer... It makes that much of a difference, IMO. I am taking a trip to the Seattle area in July so I will bring my M5V over for the treatment.

Lull # 705, a Oly White PJ with tort guard, Fralins and RW board has just arrived. Had it delivered to the office so it hasn't had the proper plugged in test drive, but so far so good. Nice fit & finish all around. Maybe one of the best fretboard radius jobs I've ever seen. Great balance. Pretty pleased so far.
Gotta tell ya though my fellow Lullites, I'm still not a fan of the headstock design. Sort of looks like it was "mailed in" (half-hearted design). It looks better on a 5 because its wider and thusly the lines are a bit different. On the 4 though, not very fetching. Obvioulsy this isn't a show stopper on my end since I now have 2 and am a club member

Here the newest addition we've been discussing. Sounds killer too. Very authentic and growly with the Fralins. Punchy with a nicely subdued bell-like tone. Pretty much exactly what you'd hope it would sound like.
The nut is P width and I have historically been less than comfortable with that, but I bit the bullet and went for it regardless. If I was a P player, I'd be in hog heaven We'll see, if I don't adapt, it'll be up for trade/sale at some point. Who knows. Regardless, one of the bands I'm in is a roots rock sort of thing with much more laid-back parts and navigating the new neck width will be less of an obstacle in that scenario.
Anyway, enjoy the pics and have a great weekend.

Well, I gotta say, this guy is one cool dude. I sent him an email asking for suggestions for an extension cab to add to my Markbass 2/10 combo.
He called back within 5 minutes, and offered to custom make a 15" extension cab with the same specs as my combo cab, so that the Markbass would sit on top of the 15." Not only that, but he gave me more than a substantial discount from his list price. Given the quality of his work, I think I'm gonna have a great rig for almost all gigs except the biggest now. The extension cab will enable me to use all 500 watts of the LMII - I can hardly wait to hear my new Lull with this rig.

+1000. Jorg is a top notch dude. I've been to his place a few times for get-togethers and hung out at his booth at NAMM for the entire weekend. He's always been a great friend to me and has always welcomed me, all this while knowing that I am Aguilar guy. One thing about him is that he's the first to say that his products are not the best for everything - no one's is - and if you're gear works for you (like it does for me) and there's no reason to change anything. Gotta love that! A bass player's bass player.
Anyway, back to Lull basses....
J Hud... I see what you mean regarding the headstock design, but I like the simplicity of it - I call it the "eagle" or "bird" headstock - specially on the 4's. My M5V has the older and wider headstock but the new version on my PJ5 looks sleeker, probably better, IMO - plus the G is pulled straight past the nut on the new 5 strings heads, the older one looks a little weird that it pulls hard right past the nut, haha.

Do you have any pic comparison with the old and new style headstock? I'm just curious to see the difference. By the way, I'm lovin the Lull I got from Ed. It's the third one I've owned, but the first one with the maple FB. I'm more of a rosewood guy, but I'm beginning to like maple Fb's.

Wow, already? Sorry to hear that but I say give it some more time... You will love it like your M4, pretty sure about it!
I too wanted to sell my PJ5 soon after I got it. But my concern was the tone, I was just too used to the J sound. A friend gave me great advice to stop comparing the 2 since they are 2 different animals. Now I really love it! I even think now that it fits the sound of my main band, which all the songs were written and played on a J.
YC, man I wish it was just about the tone. Be pretty easy to keep it cause it sounds really, really good. Totally about the nut width. Only element that I am not totally in love with. But, again, I am working with it on this roots rock project and might just get used to it
I'm with YC on this - don't throw the baby out with the bathwater just yet. Every new bass takes a bit of getting used to.
I'd hang onto it for a while longer to make sure the nut does not work for you, and you do not get used to it. If you are doing any rock or retro projects, this would be a pretty valuable bass to have.

Anyway, as some of you may know I've going back and forth about selling my PJ5 in hopes of getting an M5 - specially the one currently in the classifieds by lowendmafia.
Well, I am happy to say that I am back on the "keep it" boat. For some stupid reason I decided to mess with it last week - put the original Blend pot back in - I've never been too happy with the sound of both pickups on. It seems like solo'd the J pickup sounds a lot lower in volume than the P pickup (naturally, right?) but when both are on I can hear the snap of the J A LOT! Wasn't diggin' that. Here's the stupid part, I thought that may have been caused by my wiring - don't ask why I thought that. So I dug into it to find out I am 2 wires short of putting the Blend in going off the Duncan diagram - but Mike had it that way to begin with (???). Then the Volume pot I took out became faulty and would not work anymore, I had to order a new one from Roger.
Long story short, it was out of service for a week and I missed it terribly. So I think I am on the "keep it" boat for good this time. I adjusted the pickup height - lowered the J as I am more likely to use the P and both than a solo J. Mike explained that it's just the way it is with 2 very different pickups. Took off some of the snap with both on and BANG!
I love the simplicity of this bass - literally plug and play.
Lastly, I was thinking about putting a brass bridge on it to see if it will make it deeper sounding - Mike said it would make a difference. Anybody try this? And Mike's bridges are the .708 spacing, right?
