This is my first fully blind bass purchase... But I am totally confident that this bass will not disappoint. The only thing better is if I could've found my black on black w/ maple board (hint hint)... Oh well, I like sunburst too!

A couple more questions... My seller didn't have the specifics on this one - pickup/pre... I am waiting for the serial number so I can email Mike to ask.
Anyway, I noticed that it didn't have a string-thru-body B string... Does that mean it's older? But it should still be 35" scale as all Lull 5's, right?

My understanding is Mike has always done 35" and is very set on that being the right way to go for a 5 string. The pre will be easy to find out by just opening up the back of the bass, but I am sure Mike has records. Also I could be wrong but I thought the Fralin 5 string pickups unlike there 4, were longer (go father past the B and G string then a standard 4 string Jazz pickup), so from the pick I am just guessing that they are the Lull Duncan Basslines, but I could be totally out to lunch on this.
The Lull will sound great with any pre/pup configuration. Mike puts a lot of thought into the electronics and what will best complement a given instrument. You can always swap it out at a later time but, until then, live with it.
Unless you've seen a shot of the backside, it'll be hard to tell if the bass doesn't have a string-thru B option. You would see an oddly placed chrome string ferrule on the reverse.

I think he just came out with the thru body B, but I could be wrong. Bass player said it was new when they did a review on the P5 J5 a while back.
By the way new Lull on Wednesday!

Man, that would be an amazing day. The only thing is I am at a University 45 minutes from my home and Wednesday night I have a Phyiscs exam at 7. So I might have to wait till Thursday to get my hands on it.
I purchased both my M4 & M5 "blind" with only tiny, Avatar-sized pictures for the 5-string on the 'Bay (the 4-string, purchased here, has slightly better pictures... and a disco ball!)
) As for the actual bass disappointing... fugetaboutit! Black/Matching Headstock/Maple 'board is one of the color schemes that is a "possible" for when I finally get to custom order a new Lull, but I'm *crazy*-happy with the 4-string that turned up for me: Ash body/Transparent Red on a Flame Maple top/Intense birdeye fretboard/Black Hardware... for me, it's like my own Lull version of Geddy Lee's "Red Geddy" (that he's used downtuned to D for "2112" due to his vocal range) that's I've dug for so long, both his and Nino's Valenti version.

Wow...Can't believe I missed this thread. Anyway, I am in. I have #361. A tasty 4A quilt top, ash body and nice birds-eye maple fretboard. The 24 fret models are hard to come by. I have toyed with selling it a couple of times and I could never do it. I have really grown to like this bass a lot. It is staying around. According to Roger at Lull, it was finished in Novermber of 1999. So, definitely an early model. Last Fall I sent it to Mike and he rewired it, replaced the pots and added a tone control. In November I actually had a chance to get out to Seattle and stop by the shop. Great place and great people for sure. Mike is a class act, he builds great basses and does awesome repair work, as well. I had him work on a '76 Jazz bass I had and he did a great job.
