The most overplayed cover tune EVER.

Judging from threads here on TB, it seems as though Mustang Sally is the clear and definitive winner.

What say you, O Cover Band Gods???

I hated hearing that song at every wedding/party I went to. Then I got on stage with the house band at a blues jam in Baton Rouge back when I was in college and we tore into it. Possibly the most fun I have ever had on stage, ever. I didn't know the tune, they just gave me the key, and we played it a million miles an hour. First time I was able to pick up a tune and improvise through it without embarrassing everyone on stage. A big "aha!" moment for me. Been a huge Wilson Pickett fan ever since.

Shoot - I was playing Wagon Wheel (OCMS' original version) yrs ago.. long before it was released by Darius Rucker..

But yeah.. terribly overplayed now.. :rollno:

Oh yeah? I was listening to Bob Dylan's original version way before any of those guys stole it. Or maybe not, because I'd never heard it before. Bob Dylan has written so many songs, he probably doesn't even remember it.
