Good God, you're both right. I've always played straight through because it sounded empty when I didn't (a while ago). I'll have to try the chorus-only method if we gig it again.
I generally like the Stones, but not this one. The guitarist's cowbell pedal has a lot to do with that..just goes right through my head.

Not a great list but in the context of overplayed cover songs, the band would have to be a standard top40 pop/rock cover band. Not a band that plays a lot of obscure tunes or album cuts. I play mostly r&b but I've played several songs on this list. Mustang Sally would probably the song I've played the most and I've been at this since 1973.I've only ever played one of those songs in any setting.
