The MusicMan Amp Club

Interesting. Any thoughts on how the HD-500 sounds relative to the current Markbass head offerings?

Tom.

different stuff, I think you should compare MM amps and especially cabinets to Parsek ones, (always markbass)
I owned a Parsek 2x12+mid tw 6"
great cab, but very heavy...no neo speakers
the Hd head it's more comparable to the markbass, to many people I've herd, the HD sounds better, but again it's more heavy in weight.

I just bought one of these MusicMan amps (the HD 500) on Ebay. I was looking at the Markbass II, but seeing that this was originally made by Markbass, had switching capabilities, a tube in the pre-section, not to mention the guy had the footswitch...all for less than a new Markbass amp, I couldn't let it go. I'd heard too many good things about this amp. Anyone happen to have an owner's manual for it, though?

back in the 80s a had an hd 150 - a very good sounding amp, but after a few years i changed to an svt and an swr sm 500 - shortly after the sm 500 i sold the hd 150 - unfortunatly, i must say, but 3 tops at once was to much moneywise at these days for me

Am I abit too old-fashioned here? coz I juz got an HD150 with MM115 cab..I think it's the 6L6 version but the amp technician has changed those tubes to EH EL34'.Anyone know the difference between both?which one is better?so I'll later change them to the original one.should I run more cabinet e.g. 2x10 or 2x12 into it? I feel very happy with it now and I juz wanna know more about it.

thanks alot.I'm from Bangkok,Thailand.
