The demo I saw of the Micro-tron III seemed to have quite balanced volumes between the UP/Down.
I hope this is still the case with low end frequencies for us low enders too!

BRILLIANT. So so so so cool.
Really everything I have been asking for in a pedal board friendly Mutron. Can't wait.
My only beef is the second footswitch. I find it hard to hit one of the two on a crowded pedalboard unless you leave space on either side - and that isn't the point as with top jacks you kind of want to stack it in.
I tend to use mine in a loop anyway so it won't be a big deal then.

Mu-FX Micro-Tron III ... great news, my expectations are set high now, this might be my final envelope filter purchase and then i will give up on the search for the my best quack-quack-filter. In the past i tried at least +/- 20 different envelope filters, non of them could make it on my fx-board. I don´t know what is harder to find: perfect quack or perfect dirt pedal?
My Boostron 3 arrived today to add to my Mu-Tron/ Mu-Fx steadily expanding collection 
. Just had a few hours playing around with the Boostron, wow as you'd expect from its name the Boostron's got a heck of lot of boost. The Blaster and Squeezer effects on their own or combined sound awesome and think I'll get a lot of use out of them. First time I've come across Pro Co Rat type distortion in the Slacker but I really like it, lots of flexibility in the sounds you can get out of this thing. I also put the Octave Divider and Mu-Tron 3x in the effects loop of the Boostron, for my first taste of an all Mu-Fx old school sounding synth!

I have similarly gone through a ton of filters. I think I've found the perfect quack in the Broughton Joshwah, a pedal only produced in very small numbers by TB member AzureSkies they you might not have heard of outside of a few threads on here.
Having previously owned the Mutron 3X, this one sounds better to me and captures more of that slightly dirty sound of the original Mutron III. Major plus points are the fact it has separate controls for gain, sensitivity and volume so you can get the perfect balance, plus instead of the hi/lo switch which I always found rather limiting, there is a freq knob to control the start frequency of the sweep. Set low to sound nice and fat, it still lets you open the filter up wide if you dig in, whereas on the 3X I felt like I had to compromise on choosing a switch position that sounded best on either high or low notes.
Just as with the other sound clip I heard of this pedal, the "clean" sound is beautiful! However, when the gain really kicks in, it just doesn't work for me.
Can you post a close-up photo of your JoshWah? I'd like to see the control layout. It's between this and the Mu-FX Micro-Tron III right now, and I'm trying to get as much info as I can.
That wasn't my clip and is the only one I know of, so it's probably the same as the one you've already heard! I'm with you on the distortion, I'm not a fan either, I just set the gain around 9 o'clock, where it starts to warm up the tone a bit.

"Freq(uency)" is always a very good thing to have on a filter! Do you feel comfortable quoting the price here? I figure since you're not the builder, it wouldn't be against TB rules. If you're not comfortable with it, I'll PM you.
Release is a decay control yes. Attack is fixed, but it's pretty much spot on, very quacky indeed. Not sure if Josh wants his prices publicised so will PM!
I've owned 3 Vintage Mutron III's. Sold 2 of them at a smile profit and kept the best sounding one (a hard wired one - whereas the other two required an external power supply or chowed 9 volts for breakfast).
I tend to not use the one I still have for live gigs because of it's perceived value.

I'm sure there's some vintage mu tron original knobs over on ebay. Definitely agree that Mu Tron's differ from pedal to pedal. I own two and lining them up side by side one is a bit dirtier whilst the other which was professionally calibrated in High range can get more lightsaber type sounds. Such an awesome effect though, still in awe how good they sound. Really hoping Mu Fx pulls it out of the bag with the Micro Tron! Stick with the Chunk 00Funk, I love mine too. I find the trick to controlling the 00Funk is to keep the sweep around 12:00 and adjust the other controls to how you like it. It is a very sensitive filter though!

The version you have is the "ARP" version after it had "bought" the Mu-Tron product line and intellectual property from the original Musitronics Corp.
We presently don't have the (gray colored?) knobs.
But maybe HAZ labs has some knobs?

It's a cool pedal for sure. For me I really bought it for the blaster and Squeezer combo. And I am super happy with that. The slacker side is a nice little bonus - I wish he an included a no-clipping mode for it as it would make it more transparent and maybe more useful on a bigger board.
Waiting for @bongomania or others to review the Squeezer side of the Boostron. I'm looking for a very percussive, bass-friendly Orange Squeezer clone, and would like to know if this could be the one. Thanks!
I have one and it only does an up sweep. In case we mean the same thing but are just calling it by different names, I mean when you play lightly the filter is closed, play harder and it opens up to let higher frequencies through (i.e. sweeps up!).
