The samples sound good, but I would say you have a very distinct attack. Did you have any issues getting the pedal to trigger? The early reviews over on The Gear Page have been mixed, at best.

Actually no, and that was indeed one of my problems with the Proton. So far with the Microtron, it seems that, regardless of attack or signal level, I've been able to dial in a subtle or not-so-subtle burp with the peak and gain knobs. E.g., copped a great TLC Waterfalls, with a lighter touch and a less extreme peak setting.

It is of course sensitive to input level, so I did find myself turning those knobs quite a bit. Thus, for me at least it's unlikely to be a set-and-forget pedal, especially if you wanna switch between dry, fuzz, octave, etc. But having only two knobs necessary to dial in made tweaking pretty easy.

Microtron delivered yesterday. Ruined my evening plans. Dare I say, it just may be the quest-ender I've sought. Definitely supplants the Proton (which I never quite bonded with). Been long too long since I've played a Mutron, and I've never played a Trutron, but in my limited opinion the Microtron certainly seems worthy of the "tron" suffix. It may not be the most flexible or juiciest filter I've ever tried, but it just has a distinctly smooth, well-calibrated quack that is very musical and quick to dial in.

I threw up some not-great-quality samples on soundcloud here, running the microtron with a handful of other effects. It also sounds great with a drier signal of course.

Did Mu-FX send you any shipping or tracking info? I just want to know when to be looking for mine. I'm hoping it won't just show up one day.

It's interesting for you to mention that the Micro-Tron "may not be the most flexible or juiciest filter I've ever tried," because the original Mu-Tron III isn't the most flexible or juiciest filter I've ever tried, even though it has more than enough flexibility and juice for my tastes. The original Mu-Tron III is simply the best envelope filter I've ever tried. I've been disappointed by too many modern filters which are extremely flexible, but don't have that sound, no matter how you set them.

I don't care if the Micro-Tron is a one- or two-trick pony, as long as it hits the spot!

That's been my very hope/intention as well. I still need to spend more time (and gig) with the microtron, but after initial fiddling, I was beginning to convince myself I could work it in all over the place, not just say funk and synth songs. I.e., whereas some filters seem to basically disappear at milder settings, I was able to get nice lightly-filtered tones with the microtron to add character without over-funkifying. Of course, on the flip side, with the right effects chain, it seems to have plenty of squish potential.

Honestly, I could have done without. This only added expense for them, which I'm sure was passed along. I would have rather they reduced the price and let me choose how I would like to power the pedal.

I'm just saying that I doubt it was "free" in the end. I really don't need any extra "gift"; I'm just excited to get the pedal. It was just one of the more expensive pedals I've purchased and I would have rather not bought an extra battery pack I didn't need and paid a little less for the pedal.

Now where's my shipping notification? I did pre-order and it is already Wednesday...

I was hoping this would be a "first ordered, first served" kind of deal. Judging from the posts at The Gear Page, that seems to not be the case.

See and I figured it WAS first come, first served and that's why mine hadn't shipped yet. It slipped my mind on the preorder day and I didn't order until after I got off work.

My band mate received a shipping notice last week and should be getting his next week. I plan to snatch it from his pedal board at our next rehearsal and try it out.
